Received the Louis d'Or for his role in the stage play 'Decadence' by Steven Berkoff with Het Nationale Toneel. The Louis d'Or is the annual Dutch prize for a stage actor in a leading role (comparable to the Tonys or the Olivier Awards). [1993]
Received the Albert van Dalsum Ring from his long time friend Pierre Bokma. The Ring is the most prestigious laurel a Dutch (male) stage actor can receive. The wearer of the Ring must decide himself to whom he will give the trophy next, but it must be one of the leading actors in the land. [2004]
Was asked by Lars von Trier to perform in Dogville (2003), but didn't take the role in order to play on stage with his friends in Holland.
Was asked by Paul Verhoeven to perform in Black Book (2006), but refused the role in order to play on stage with his friends in Holland, the same play he discarded the offer to appear in Dogville (2003) for.
