More than a movie star: America’s one female Hollywood director working in the 1950s receives a four-title boxed set well worth the investment — one noir mini-masterpiece is accompanied by a pair of independent social issue movies better than what the studios were turning out. It’s all thanks to Lupino’s fine dramatic direction. She emphasizes basic human values: cooperation over competition, and interior conflict. Her company ‘The Filmmakers’ lasted only about six years, but as an independent experiment it consistently turned out ‘special’ pictures anybody could be proud of.

Blockbusters, based on the classic NBC gameshow, is heading back to the UK after Comedy Central picked up another local reboot.
The UK arm of the Viacom-owned broadcaster has ordered two seasons of the cult quiz from Fremantle’s Thames.
The show, which was a student classic when it aired on ITV between 1983 and 1993, was originally produced by Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions for NBC, which aired it between 1980 and 1982 with a short-lived remake in 1987. It was created by Steve Ryan.
Mock The Week host Dara O’Briain is fronting the latest reboot, which will run for 20 episodes of 30 minutes. Players will attempt to cross a hexagonal board by answering quiz questions correlating to a letter, for a chance to win an “experiential” prize. The series is already in pre-production and will include two celebrity specials. It will debut on Comedy Central UK in 2019.

Kiefer Sutherland's academic politician is thrust into the White House after a national tragedy in new drama Designated Survivor...
This review contains spoilers.
1.1 Pilot
I tried to tell myself that it was because I am just finishing up another marathon run through The West Wing. I mean, as an American, looking at our current Presidential race, what else is there to do? We are staring at a race between one of the most experienced and prepared candidates to ever run for the office and a dangerous, dishonest cretin who likely couldn’t place half the States he supposedly wants to preside over on a map of his own country and doesn’t give a damn about the rest of the world—and here’s the kicker: our journalists and many other supposedly serious-minded people are acting like this is an even match. Gazing back a decade into the smart,...

Welcome to "Arrested Development" Rewatch. Leading up to the release of Season 4, Zap2it will be taking a look back at the 53 episodes that made "Ad" one of our most beloved TV comedies. Watch the first three seasons of "Arrested Development" on Netflix. Today we're covering the Season 1 episode "Pier Pressure," which premiered Jan. 11, 2004.
After being introduced in "Pier Pressure," the character of J. Walter Weatherman has gone on to be one of the funniest recurring jokes on "Arrested Development." There's a lot to love in this Season 1 episode, but learning why "you always leave a note" has got to be the best part. Ah, parenting skills from George Bluth Sr.
Plot: Michael decides he is being too hard on George Michael and his grades, so he orders his son to have more fun. Lindsay, meanwhile, realizes she'd been too lax on Maeby, and punishes her daughter by making her...

And after taking a look at this year's lineup, I'm pretty sure that if you are in the area, you won't want to miss it!

Brandon Stumpf may not be a household name to horror fans, but versatility has been the key to Stumpf's success in mainstream and independent films, and once filmmakers see him in his upcoming role as Steve Ryan in Kevin MacDonald's Beg, it's likely we'll start seeing him in other genre projects. This writer recently had the pleasure of interviewing the actor, who is also a full-time art teacher.
Fred Grandinetti: Where were you were born and raised?
Brandon Stumpf: I was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire, with my father, mother, sister, and brother.
Fg: Did you perform in any theatrical productions while attending school?
Bs: The only theatre I participated in was my high school's Senior Class play. We did South Pacific, and I was an ensemble player. I had two singing lines, which shocks me to this day because I hardly consider myself a singer.
