Jameela Jamil (‘The Good Place’) still can’t believe that ‘maniac’ Mike Schur gave her 1st acting job [Exclusive Video Interview]

Jameela Jamil (‘The Good Place’) still can’t believe that ‘maniac’ Mike Schur gave her 1st acting job [Exclusive Video Interview]
The Good Place” is Jameela Jamil’s first acting job ever — and she was ready to make it her last a couple months ago. “Definitely the minute I stood on set with Maya Rudolph — that was the moment that I knew that life entirely would be downhill from there. I was ready to retire,” she tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview (watch above). “I should retire while I’m winning because there is nothing better than acting opposite Maya Rudolph.”

All jokes aside, Jamil is still wrapping her head around the the change in course her career has taken since she landed the role of Tahani al-Jamil, a narcissistic British socialite with a penchant for shameless name-dropping, in the afterlife comedy. A native Londoner, Jamil was a TV host and DJ in England before moving to Los Angeles to pursue writing. She had absolutely no acting aspirations when

4th Annual Mlff: Love, Gilda – The Review

One of my favorite films at the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival was Love, Gilda. Not only did it do an amazing job at capturing her spirit, but it is incredibly relatable… especially if you (like me) have ever fought an intense disease or illness.

In her own words, comedienne Gilda Radner looks back and reflects on her life and career. Weaving together recently discovered audiotapes, interviews with her friends, rare home movies and diaries read by modern-day comediennes inspired by Gilda, Love, Gilda offers a unique window into the honest and whimsical world of a beloved performer whose greatest role was sharing her story.

Produced and Directed by Lisa D’Apolito, Love, Gilda leaves viewers with an incredibly positive way to look at life… with laughter. Reading from her own words, Poehler, Rudolph, Hader, Strong and more learn more about one of their biggest inspirations. We learn about Radner’s feelings about herself,

Sesame Street is Suing The Team Behind The R-Rated Puppet Film The Happytime Murders

The Sesame Street team isn't very happy about that R-rated puppet film coming out called The Happytime Murders. The first red-band trailer that was released declares that the movie is "no Sesame, all Street," and the Sesame Workshop isn't laughing about it. In fact, they're suing Stx Entertainment over it.

The suit claims The Happytime Murders tarnishes the Sesame Street brand by using their name in the marketing. io9 received the following statement from Sesame Workshop:

"Sesame Workshop learned last Friday that the name Sesame Street is being used to market a graphic, adult-themed movie. We were surprised and disappointed that Sesame Street, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help kids grow smarter, stronger, and kinder, is being exploited to market this R-rated film. We immediately contacted the film’s distributor, Stx Films, and requested that they remove our name from the film’s marketing. They declined to do so.

‘Sesame Street’ Creators Sue STX Entertainment Over Marketing for ‘The Happytime Murders’

‘Sesame Street’ Creators Sue STX Entertainment Over Marketing for ‘The Happytime Murders’
Sesame Street” creators on Thursday filed a lawsuit against Stx Entertainment, alleging that its marketing campaign for “The Happytime Murders,” an R-rated Melissa McCarthy film featuring naughty and foul-mouthed Henson puppets, tarnishes the “Sesame Street” brand.

The film centers on the story of a puppet cast from a 1980s television show that begins to get murdered one by one, prompting a police investigation that ropes in McCarthy’s character and her puppet partner to look into the homicides.

Brian Henson, son of the late Jim Henson, directed the picture and the Jim Henson Company also helped produce.

The trailer, released recently, and other promotional materials make clear the film is not kid-friendly, showing scenes of drug use, sex, and other foul behavior by puppets with a tagline that reads: “No Sesame. All Street.”

But “Sesame Street” creators are incensed at the reference, arguing in the lawsuit that it will confuse

The Adventures of Hiro and Baymax Continue in First Trailer For Disney's Big Hero 6 Series

Disney's Big Hero 6 was such a fun movie! I have no idea if we'll ever see a feature film sequel, but we are definitely getting a new animated series coming to the Disney Channel and today they've released the first trailer! It looks like it could be fun to see the continuing adventures of Hiro, Baymax, and the rest of the team as they fight to save San Fransokyo! Hopefully, the series tells some good stories.

The adventure continues for 14-year-old tech genius Hiro and his compassionate, cutting-edge robot Baymax. If dealing with the academic pressure of being the new kid at the prestigious San Fransokyo Institute of Technology weren't enough, it’s off campus where things really get tricky. Hiro and Baymax, along with their friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go and Fred, unite to form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6, protecting their city from

Trailer for “The Happytime Murders” is unlike anything you’ve seen before

Back on Friday, a Red Band Trailer dropped for an incredibly unique looking movie. The film in question is The Happytime Murders, which has been long in development. Coming from Brian Henson, it’s a comedy involving humans and puppets. It always sounded like if The Muppets were in a dirty version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and now we know. This Trailer is just the dirtiest thing, and hilarious as well. You’ll be able to see the Trailer below, and fair warning, it’s incredibly not safe for work, but first, we’ll dive into the flick a bit. It sure looks one of a kind. This film is an action/crime comedy, mixing humans and puppets. IMDb has two plot descriptions, which are as follows: “When the puppet cast of an ’80s children’s TV show begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced Lapd detective-turned-private

‘Saturday Night Live’ Review: Tina Fey’s Finale Addresses the Season’s Issues but Also Doesn’t Care

‘Saturday Night Live’ Review: Tina Fey’s Finale Addresses the Season’s Issues but Also Doesn’t Care
The thing to understand about Tina Fey as an “SNL” host is that while she has her fingerprints on some truly brilliant comedy (both in the TV and film realms), her tenure on the show as a cast member wasn’t about being the star of the show. She’s not a Kate McKinnon or a Cecily Strong or an Aidy Bryant, she wasn’t a Kristen Wiig or an Amy Poehler or a Maya Rudolph. In fact, back when she hosted “SNL” in 2013, her monologue joked about the fact that she had no recurring characters. She, of course, became the face of Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon and then Amy Poehler, but Fey’s existence as a talent was never as the star until her host/guest appearances (like as Bedelia’s mother or especially as Sarah Palin). Because she’s “just… pleasant.”

So the expectation, unlike with other hosts,

Happytime Murders Red Band Trailer Is Insane R-Rated Muppet Madness

Happytime Murders Red Band Trailer Is Insane R-Rated Muppet Madness
The Happytime Murders trailer is here. This thing is very much red band and totally Nsfw. More so than anything you're likely to see for a wide release movie. You've been warned. Shockingly, this comes from the mind of Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson, but this is not in any way what you might expect from a name like that. This trailer proudly boasts that the same guy who directed Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island and Muppets Tonight is responsible for this debauchery. And you're not ready for the debauchery in store.

This first footage for The Happytime Murders is in no way messing around. Puppets getting blown to pieces, puppet prostitutes, who happen to use the term "rotten cotton," which has disgusting but kind of hilarious implications. This thing is so very Nsfw that it's hard to believe it even got made. Let alone from the son

Melissa McCarthy Teams with Puppets for R-Rated ‘The Happytime Murders’

Melissa McCarthy and Jim Henson’s son, Brain Henson, together? You’re right! An R-rated crime comedy! A new red band trailer for The Happytime Murders is here and rather than me try to explain it, why don’t you just watch it below.

No Sesame. All Street. The Happytime Murders is a filthy comedy set in the underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist. Two clashing detectives with a shared secret, one human (Melissa McCarthy) and one puppet, are forced to work together again to solve the brutal murders of the former cast of a beloved classic puppet television show.

This may be the most ridiculous idea, or it may be genius. Seeing that Brian Henson who has been involved in some of biggest films that involve puppetry such as The Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppets Treasure Island, The Great Muppet Caper, The Labyrinth and many more, and

Melissa McCarthy has once again teamed with her husband Ben Falcone to write, direct and star in her latest comedy film “Life of the Party” in which she plays a divorcee who goes back to college. The complication in this plot is that she is attending the same college as her daughter. McCarthy also has another film opening this fall entitled “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” which has already been getting some Oscar buzz in Gold Derby’s forums as a possible contender for Best Actress for McCarthy. This film is a rare dramatic turn for the actress and tells the true-life story of a professional biographer who gets herself into financial and ethical trouble.
