John Ross (IV) - News Poster

Why “The Jonathan Ross” Show Might Be Worth Your Time

If there’s any reason why the John Ross show should be worth your time it’s because it adds another voice in your ear that you may not think you need, but will still give you another point of view that might be interesting. Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Graham Norton, and the slew of other late night talk show hosts that are always vying for ratings are fine and all but eventually their material gets tired and you feel the need for something else, something fresh, something that’s never been given a fair shake that could possibly be something great. That

The Creepy Emmy Contenders of ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Legion,’ and ‘Westworld’

The Creepy Emmy Contenders of ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Legion,’ and ‘Westworld’
Without “Game of Thrones” in Emmy contention, the VFX race has become wide open, with “Stranger Things,” “Legion,” “Westworld,” “American Gods,” and “Black Mirror” stepping up with creepy characters and supernatural situations.

Highlights include the Demogorgon creature from “Stranger Things,” the exploding kitchen from “Legion,” the final reveal of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and all of her inner workings from “Westworld,” the incredible sex scene from “American Gods” with Bilquis, the Queen of Sheeba (Yetide Badaki), and the disgusting spider with a human head from the “Playtest” episode of “Black Mirror.”

Meet the Demogorgon from “Stranger Things

The cool thing about the Demogorgon from “Stranger Things” (directed by the Duffer Brothers) is it fits so well with the ’80s low-tech vibe. As the boogeyman from the Upside Down (named from “Dungeons & Dragons”), the creature represents a wonderful hybrid of practical and CG.

Aaron Sims Creative did the design, and the

Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Hart, Emma Stone and 319 others invited to vote for Oscar
Strangely dropping a press release on a historic day where the nation's attention is elsewhere, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed their annual list of new member invitees this morning. For those who criticize the makeup of the Academy there was some good news and the stark realization the organization still has a long way to go. The Academy has spent the last eight to 10 years attempting to diversify its membership and this year's class mostly reflects that. There are significantly more invitees of Asian and African-American descent, but the male to female disparity is still depressing. Out of the 25 potential new members of the Actor's Branch only seven are women. And, no, there isn't really an acceptable way for the Academy to spin that sad fact. Additionally, It's important to realize the 322 people noted in the release have only been invited to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

Academy Invites Record 322 New Members in Push for More Oscar Diversity

Academy Invites Record 322 New Members in Push for More Oscar Diversity
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences continues to push for diversity, sending membership invitations to 322 individuals, including a healthy number of people who can help change the org’s demos.

Among the invitees are David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Felicity Jones, Emma Stone, Rosamund Pike, Bong Joon-ho, Justin Lin and Francois Ozon. The Academy has been reaching out to women, foreign-born artists and people of various races, ethnic backgrounds and ages.

Accusations of Academy bigotry surfaced yet again in January when the list of Oscar nominees included Caucasians in all 20 acting categories, and few women or racial minorities among the other categories. Director Ava DuVernay and actor David Oyelowo of “Selma” had seemed like strong contenders, giving many people hopes of breakthroughs. After initial anger at the Acad, activists began to shift their protests to industry hiring practices. For example, 323 films were eligible for 2014 awards — which means AMPAS should theoretically

Hocus Pocus - Then and Now: What happened to the stars of the movie?
It is as much a part of Halloween as pumpkins, trick or treating and stuffing your face with candy. Halloween just wouldn't be Halloween without an annual viewing of the Disney spook-fest that is Hocus Pocus.

Firmly established as a cult classic, the 1993 movie was a surprise hit, taking 8 years to get made and originally being planned as a straight-to-tv project titled Disney's Haunted House.

21 years on from its release, we look back at the film's stars and find out where they are now.

1. Bette Midler as Winnie

What did Better Midler do after Hocus Pocus? She spent the next 21 years being Bette bloody Midler, isn't that enough for you? If you want more specifics, she's been nominated for three Grammys, produced a stage show, starred in her own self-titled sitcom, been on 7 tours, released 7 albums and starred in movies such as Parental Guidance, The Women and The Stepford Wives.
