Movie Review – Hotel Artemis (2018)

Hotel Artemis, 2018.

Directed by Drew Pearce.

Starring Jodie Foster, Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, Dave Bautista and Kenneth Choi.

Synopsis:

Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, ‘Hotel Artemis’ follows the Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals.

If Crank is the meaty ham, Smokin’ Aces the sharp cheese and Shoot ‘Em Up the crusty bread, Hotel Artemis is the lite sandwich spread you can faintly taste but still enjoy nonetheless. A gallery of wounded rouges under strict establishment rules are left to their own devices – Joe Carnahan has to be involved somehow, right? A fair guess, but Drew Pearce’s uncouth hospital for scoundrels charade is all his own. From overt John Wick inspirations to payoff commitment that cockily takes its gosh-dang time to explode. Oh, it gets “there.” But fast enough?

The year is 2028. Los

Widows Trailer Is the Gritty Heist Movie of Your Dreams

Widows Trailer Is the Gritty Heist Movie of Your Dreams
The first trailer for Widows is here. Steve McQueen made a big name for himself in Hollywood with 2013's 12 Years a Slave. The movie went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture that year and earned McQueen a nomination in the category of Best Director. The first footage for Widows is action-packed and promises to be one of the most hotly-anticipated movies coming down the pipeline later this year.

There is so much to process in this first trailer. Essentially, this is a gritty heist movie that sees a team led by Viola Davis and a bunch of other awesome women. Unlike Ocean's 8, however, this girl gang is reluctantly pulled into the crime life and this is going to

Viola Davis Is Out for Blood in Explosive ‘Widows’ Trailer (Video)
Viola Davis plays the widow of a crime boss who is deep in debt to some very bad men in the explosive trailer for Steve McQueen’s new thriller “Widows.”

Davis plays a woman in modern Chicago who joins forces with three other women whose husbands also died owing significant sums to criminal types: Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Erivo.
