Terry Richardson, who for years courted some of the biggest brands in fashion despite multiple sexual assault allegations throughout his career, was hit with a lawsuit Tuesday accusing him of sexually assaulting a model during a photoshoot in 2004, the New York Times reported.
The lawsuit was brought by Minerva Portillo, who is from Spain and was just 22 at the time of the alleged abuse. According to the suit, Portillo had just moved to New York and during her first meeting with Richardson in 2004, the photographer was only wearing a robe.

After weeks of speculation, Vice Media filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday to smooth a sale of the company.
In a statement, Vice listed both assets and liabilities in the range of more than $500 million to as much as $1 billion in a Chapter 11 petition filed in a New York court. Bloomberg reports that Fortress Credit Corp. ranked among the biggest secured creditors, with claims totaling about $475 million.
The company added that a consortium that includes Fortress, Soros Fund Management and Monroe Capital has agreed to purchase the group for $225 million, including all assets and taking on all liabilities. Vice expects to complete the sale process in the next two to three months.
In the face of a weak advertising market and a turbulent economy, Vice, like fellow digital media darlings BuzzFeed and Vox Media, has struggled to manage costs and grow revenues.

If you’re looking for a statement of intent on Fiona Apple’s second album When the Pawn…, which turns 20 on Saturday, it’s right there in the opening of the second track. Over the steadfast piano plunks and rolling drums of “To Your Love,” the then-22-year-old takes aim at her detractors by invoking their own taunts towards her work: “Here’s another speech you wish I’d swallow/Another cue for you to fold your ears/Another train of thought too hard to follow/Chuggin’ along to a...

Facebook Watch’s latest bid to keep your attention for longer than it takes for a puppy to climb stairs is “Sacred Lies,” a dark and blunt adaptation of Stephanie Oakes’ Ya novel, which in turn is based on a Grimm fairy tale. But just in case “fairy tale” makes it seem like a romp, “Sacred Lies” — created by “True Blood’s” Raelle Tucker and produced by Blumhouse TV — immediately reminds its audience that Grimm fairy tales are, well, grim.
The first episode opens with our heroine — or is she? — Minnow Bly (Elena Kampouris) standing above a bruised body, blinking at surrounding cops, and raising her hands in the air, only to reveal that she has no hands at all.
From there, “Sacred Lies” essentially splits into two shows. One is a murder mystery that delves into Minnow’s childhood, which she spent in a cult run by “The Prophet...

There was a lot of head-scratching (and complaining) when the Cannes 2018 lineup was first announced. A lot of major auteurs were nowhere to be found, while the Competition roster — generally accepted as the world’s most prestigious slate of new films — was littered with unfamiliar names. And though sidebars like Director’s Fortnight and Un Certain Regard are known for turning up the volume on unheralded voices, even those sections seemed to be unusually lacking in star power.
So what? Festivals are all about the joy of discovery, and it’s been a mighty long time since Cannes has provided attendees so many chances for attendees to find (and help coronate) their new favorite filmmakers. That being said, this is still Cannes, and the directors whose work has been included in the program aren’t coming from nowhere. They may not possess the pedigree of Jean-Luc Godard (or boast the...
