Sophie Reine was born in 1972 in Paris, France. She studied the history of art at Paris 8 University, learned the film structure, and trained as a scriptwriter. She is renowned for her original vision and sense of analysis of the story line.
As soon as a project looks exciting, she puts all her energy into the service of the director, even when the editing takes place on the other side of the world. She worked in 2020 on The Eddy, a Netflix series written by Damien Chazelle and Jack Thorne, by the side of the director Alan Poul. This year, she worked for the second time with Ira Sachs on Passages (with Franz Rogowski, Ben Whishaw & Adèle Exarchopoulos), selected in the Sundance festival 2023. She worked with Michel Gondry, Laurent Cantet, Cedric Jimenez... In 2009, she won the French Oscar for editing The first day of the rest of you life, directed by Remi Bezançon.
In parallel with her work as an editor, she writes and directs her own projects. She likes playing with her three passions: Editing, script-writing, and directing. "Navigating between those three sides of my life makes me stronger. There is my balance. » Her feature film The fabulous patar was released in 2016 (with Camille Cottin known for Call my agent). It's about a non-standard mono-parental family that the authorities tried to keep in line. « Fighting stereotypes And accepting the differences» are her recurrent themes, close to her heart. The critics and the public very well received the movie. She was nominated for the French Oscar (Cesar) at the first film competition in 2017 IN 2021, Sophie co-directed the first French Disney + series «Weekend family ». She is working on adapting two novels« Going Under », with Chapka Film et Windy Production and «Champion». And Her next editing project is Tout va bien, a Disney+ series written by Camille de Castelnau.
