Daphne Reid was born on July 13, 1948 in New York City, New York, USA as Daphne Maxwell. She is an actress and producer, known for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990), Simon & Simon (1981) and Once Upon a Time... When We Were Colored (1995). She has been married to Tim Reid since December 4, 1982.

She and her husband, Tim Reid, once had a syndicated talk show called "The Tim and Daphne Show" for King World in 1990-1991.
Also a costume designer and has frequently created her own TV wardrobe. Moreoever, she once guest-hosted ABC's The Home Show (1988) where she showed off many of her designs, and subsequently put together a four video and pattern kit entitled "Suddenly You're Sewing".
