Exclusive Clip from ‘Mining for Ruby’

There’s trouble in Alaska.

Mining for Ruby” is an indie drama that follows a Jack as a widower who is dealing with continued depression and falls in love for Ruby, a passionate environmental hydrology grad student who is embroiled in a poisonous waste controversy.

The film stars Billy Zane, Mischa Barton, Jonathan Bennett, Daniel Ponickly and Antoinette Kalaj. It is directed by Zoe Quist.

In this scene, Andrew (Bennett) turns the casual meeting with Ruby (Kalaj) into a threat as her friend Mary (Carrie Baker) looks on helplessly.

Mining for Ruby” is currently available on iTunes and video on demand.

Lock & Monkey readies Ruby
Producer-director Zoe Quist has cast Judd Nelson, Jonathan Bennett, Daniel Ponickly and Antoinette Kalaj to play the leads in her upcoming Mining For Ruby.

Daniel Ponickly wrote the screenplay about a widower who falls for an environmental science student with a troubled past.

Production is set to commence this month in Alaska. Lock & Monkey Productions principals Quist, Daniel Ponickly and Daniel Lawrence Abrams produce while William St Pierre and Maya Salganek serve as executive producers.

“Tackling such hot-button topics like clinical depression and environmental activism in a romantic drama is immensely challenging,” said Quist. “But with this talented cast and thoughtful script I feel that our movie will really resonate with indie film audiences,”

Judd Nelson, Jonathan Bennett, Daniel Ponickly and Antoinette Kalaj will star in indie feature “Mining For Ruby.”

Lock & Monkey Prods. is producing through its principals Zoe Quist, Ponickly and Daniel Lawrence Abrams with William St. Pierre and Maya Salganek exec producing.

Quist is directing the drama from Ponickly’s script with shooting starting later this month in Alaska. Ponickly plays a widower dealing with his continued depression who falls for the title character Ruby (played by Kalaj), a passionate environmentalist embroiled in a poisonous waste controversy. Nelson will portray a professor.

Quist directed “Raw Cut,” in which Ponickly starred. Kalaj starred in “Riddick,” “Don Jon” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”
