Prine was romantically involved with Karyn Kupcinet, the actress daughter of columnist Irv Kupcinet, at the time of her murder in West Hollywood, CA, in 1963. He was among a number of people, including two other actors, questioned by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and released. There never was an official suspect.
