During Mark Povinelli's over 20 year career, he has appeared in over 50 films and television shows, 25 theater productions and dozens of national commercials, proving himself capable of spanning the entire range of medium, style and genre from New York Theater to Studio Films, from slapstick comedy to heartfelt drama, from broad caricature to quiet realism through a body of versatile work that reflects his qualities as a brilliant artist of acting expressed in his wonderful performances with subtlety, intelligence, charisma and profoundness.

For most of the 2000s, Mark had been touring the world as the critically praised 'Torvald Helmer' in the OBIE award winning acclaimed production of Mabou Mines Dollhouse (2009), an inspired adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's classic "A Doll's House". His tour-de-force excellent interpretations in a wide range of roles in other notable stage productions include the premiere of Martha Clarke's "Belle Epoque" at Lincoln Center in the lead role of 'Henri Toulouse-Lautrec' as well as at the Shakespeare Theater, Children's Theater Company, Radio City Music Hall, Oklahoma Lyric Theater, Will Geer Theatricum and UCLA Live together with his exquisite film and TV work such as in Boardwalk Empire (2010), Water for Elephants (2011), Are You There, Chelsea? (2012), Criminal Minds (2005), Happyish (2015), Mad Dogs (2015), Still the King (2016), My Dinner with Hervé (2018) and many others.

When Mark is not working, he dedicates his time to Little People of America, an organization that promotes awareness, advocacy and medical assistance for individuals with forms of dwarfism.

Mark resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.

Did you know

Edit
  • Quotes
[referencing his character in Water for Elephants (2011)] I can relate to Kinko's life on the fringes of society. While his situation is far more extreme than mine ever has been, I think being so physically different from birth always sets you up to live on the edges of society. You are constantly battling to own your space in the world.
