Wrote her first book, "The Tale of Peter Rabbit," as a letter to a friend's children. She was encouraged by Hardwicke Rawnsley, vicar of Wray Church, to turn it into a book, and she successfully self-published it in 1902. It is believed to be the first picture story book for children. See more »
