‘Cargo’ Review: Netflix Zombie Movie is ‘Train to Busan’ Meets the Australian Outback — Tribeca

‘Cargo’ Review: Netflix Zombie Movie is ‘Train to Busan’ Meets the Australian Outback — Tribeca
Thanks to George A. Romero’s game-changing “Night of the Living Dead,” the horror genre loves to imagine a world decimated by the decay of civilization, where humanity fears the primal darkness that lurks inside, waiting to be unlocked by a mysterious outbreak or freak accident. But the zombie resurgence that overtook television, video games, and films over the past decade has grown predictably stale. We know how to survive a “World War Z” scenario, and zombie films need to offer a lot more than heroes escaping harrowing situations where the undead are grabbing for them from every direction.

“Cargo,” Netflix’s latest horror offering, manages to elevate itself above “The Walking Dead” ennui by taking a page from 2016’s highly successful “Train to Busan,” with a similarly complex father-daughter relationship at its core. Co-written and co-directed by Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling, “Cargo” was expanded from a short film

Martin Freeman Comes Under Attack In New Cargo Clip

Hot off starring in Marvel’s smash hit blockbuster Black Panther – which continues to destroy the box office – Martin Freeman is now swapping the fictional land of Wakanda for the barren but beautiful landscape of rural Australia in upcoming zombie thriller Cargo. And though the scenery is nice, there’s an (un)deadly danger out there in the outback, as teased by this brand new clip.

The footage shown here promises a taut, emotional ride, as Freeman plays a man – named Andy – who’s trying to protect his baby daughter from a zombie outbreak. The worst part is that he himself is infected, after his partner bit him before she died. Now, he only has 48 hours to get her to a safe place before he succumbs to the virus.

As for this clip in particular, the context is a bit unclear, but it would seem that Andy’s found himself in a rather sticky situation,

Another Us Trailer for Martin Freeman's Zombie Daddy Movie 'Cargo'

"If I don't make it to the hills, you're all I've got..." Netflix has released another, additional Us trailer for the horror thriller Cargo, from directors Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke. We already posted the Australian trailer for this a few days ago, and they've followed up with this preview which plays a bit differently - more about the zombie hunters than the survival of this guy. Martin Freeman stars as a father trying to save his child at all costs in a post-apocalyptic world. The film's full cast includes Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter, Caren Pistorius, Kris McQuade, Natasha Wanganeen, Bruce R. Carter, Simone Landers, and David Gulpilil. This does look fairly entertaining, but it doesn't seem to be any reinvention of the zombie genre, just another zombie story. This trailer does more clearly show the 48 hour countdown. Watch below. Here's the official Us trailer (+ poster) for Ben Howling & Yolanda Ramke's Cargo,

Martin Freeman Has 48 Hours to Save His Daughter in a Zombie Infested World in Trailer For Cargo

The first trailer has been released for an Austrian post-apocalyptic zombie film called Cargo. The movie stars Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) and it tells an incredibly intense and heartbreaking story of a dad who is bitten by a zombie. He has 48 hours until he turns into one himself, and before he does, he has to set in motion a plan to save his infant daughter from himself, and the zombie apocalypse in which they live.

The movie is actually based on a wonderful short film that was released about five years ago and I included it for you to watch below. The directors of the short, Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke, are also the directors of the feature film and it looks like they did a great job with it! This seriously looks like an engaging and suspenseful dramatic zombie film.

Andy Carries a Precious Cargo Across a Zombie Infected Wasteland in this Latest Trailer

Tagline: "He is Her Only Hope and Her Greatest Threat." Cargo is a zombie thriller. Based on a short film of the same name, directors Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke bring a personal story to the screen, this year. In the film, Andy (Martin Freeman) has fourty-eight hours to get his daughter to a safe refuge, before he turns into something monstrous. The latest trailer shows Andy dealing with an infectious bite and his difficult trek, in Southern Australia. Cargo also stars: Anthony Hayes (War Machine, 2017), Susie Porter, Caren Pistorius, Kris McQuade, Natasha Wanganeen and David Gulpilil. The latest trailer, for Cargo, can be found here. The feature length trailer spoils a few plot points. Andy's wife is shown near death in one scene and definitely infected. The clip also reveals the source of Andy's bite and his discovery of a possible, safe refuge. It might be best to watch

Martin Freeman is a Daddy in First Trailer for Zombie Thriller 'Cargo'

"You're the first people I've seen. You're the first people... who are still people." The first Australian trailer has debuted for a dramatic horror thriller titled Cargo, from directors Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke. Even though this seems like a horror comedy, it's actually more of an intense thriller. As wacky as the pitch for this might seem, it looks like an engaging, suspenseful zombie flick. I'm also glad this trailer isn't from America, because they would never allow this much blood, but it's just naturally a part of the movie so it's all over the footage, of course. Enjoy. Here's the first Australian trailer (+ poster) for Ben Howling & Yolanda Ramke's Cargo,

‘Hounds of Love’ Blu-ray Review (Arrow Video)

Stars: Emma Booth, Ashleigh Cummings, Stephen Curry, Susie Porter, Damian de Montemas, Harrison Gilbertson | Written and Directed by Ben Young

It’s 1987, it’s Perth in Western Australia, and seventeen year old Vicki Maloney is randomly abducted from a suburban street by John and Evelyn, a disturbed serial-killing couple. As she observes the dynamic between her captors she quickly realises she must drive a wedge between them if she is to survive…

Apparently “inspired” by real life crimes, Hounds of Love is a stunning debut feature from director Ben Young, if a little ‘tame’ for its gruesome subject matter. Yes, I did say tame. Young opens his film with a slow-mo look at schoolgirls playing volleyball during a bright Summer’s day. Which seems innocent enough, until you realise we’re looking at the girls thorugh the gaze of our perverted kidnappers – however the power and the unease that opening scene has,

Cargo review – the living dead have us spooked, but in a painful way

Adelaide film festival: This zombie movie, with soul and pathos, is one of those in which the Z word is never uttered

The time it takes for a bitten person to transform into a slobbering, brains-hungry ghoul in a zombie movie is often commensurate to the importance of the character. Expect a quick chomp-chomp, now-you’re-an-oogie-boogie for those on the peripheries of the story, and a protracted departure – with speeches, rueful expressions and rushed inheritance planning – for the most important players.

In Cargo, from first-time feature film-makers (and co-directors) Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke, the time it takes to turn from normal to Romero monster is supposedly the same for everybody: about 48 hours. Therefore Andy (Martin Freeman) has two days to find somebody to take care of his infant daughter, after he is chomped on by his newly turned wife Kay (Susie Porter).

Sherlock’s Martin Freeman Features In New Clip From Zombie Thriller Cargo

In the wake of no more Sherlock being produced for the foreseeable future, the detective drama’s two stars are keeping themselves busy with an array of interesting projects both big and small.

Benedict Cumberbatch recently featured in emotional TV movie The Child In Time, for instance, ahead of his role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War next May. Martin Freeman, meanwhile, is also joining Cumberbatch in the McU next year, as he’ll be appearing in February’s Black Panther. Before then, however, The Hobbit actor will be starring in indie zombie thriller Cargo.

With filming now complete and the movie knee-deep in post-production, the first clip from the upcoming UK project has arrived online and introduces the setting – that being the barren but beautiful landscape of rural Australia – before zeroing in on Martin Freeman’s desperate father Andy.

Film Review: ‘Don’t Tell’

Film Review: ‘Don’t Tell’
The true story of a traumatized young woman who sued the Anglican Church over sexual abuse she suffered as a 12-year-old is dramatized in the quietly powerful Australian feature “Don’t Tell.” Boasting a knockout performance by Sara West as the damaged-but-undeterred victim, and with excellent contributions from a heavyweight local cast including Jack Thompson, Aden Young and Rachel Griffiths, this first feature by director Tori Garrett is a little too restrained to satisfy everyone’s expectations of a high-velocity legal thriller. But its deep compassion and intelligent examination of an especially terrible type of injustice will win the day for many viewers. The film was released locally on May 18 and has the qualities to attract international exposure on various platforms.

“Don’t Tell,” which won the audience award at the Newport Beach Film Festival, is based on the book by Stephen Roche, the lawyer who represented a woman known
