Synopsis:

A collection of rare and previously unreleased matches from the career of Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage, from his earliest days in WWF all the way through to his WCW stint.

Everyone knows Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage. He was one of the most unique and charismatic performers in WWF during the 1980s, shining during a time period that boasted some of the most unique and charismatic individuals ever to step inside a wrestling ring. Road to WrestleMania: Impossible expectations could scupper the Aj Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura dream match

It’s the end of WrestleMania week, with the ‘Show of Shows’ set to take place tonight. Every day this week, Tom Beasley has looked at a different element of the build-up. For the final preview article, let’s examine the smark main event as Aj Styles takes on Shinsuka Nakamura, with the expectations of the wrestling world on their shoulders…

From the moment that Shinsuke Nakamura won a title opportunity at Royal Rumble, the hardcore corner of the WWE fanbase had their match of the night for WrestleMania 34. Nakamura would be challenging for the WWE Championship against Aj Styles, in a reprise of their classic bout from New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 10 show in 2016. It’s a match fans have been waiting for ever since the two veterans made the transition to WWE and everyone expects it to be a show-stealer akin to Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III.

John Cena Doesn’t Think WWE’s “Attitude Era” Would Work Today

John Cena talks about his long-lost rapper gimmick, and why he doesn’t think WWE’s raunchy “Attitude Era” would work well today. In many ways, WWE has come full circle as a company. Then called the World Wrestling Federation, Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment empire first rose to prominence on the back of the family friendly Hulkamania era in the 80s and early 90s, fueled by top stars such as “Macho Man” Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior, “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase, Andre the Giant, and of course Hulk Hogan himself.

Comic Book Review – WWE WrestleMania 2018 Special

Liam Hoofe reviews the WWE WrestleMania 2018 Special…

The Boom! Studios specials for the big 4 PPVs have, for the most part, been a resounding success. The most recent entry, The Royal Rumble special was arguably the best in the series yet and featured the comic book debut of current WWE champion Aj Styles. There are no big names attached to the WrestleMania issue, and sadly, the comic fails to live up to the big event itself.

As is usual with these special editions, Boom! Studios have treated us to a bumper comic book, providing us with four tales selected from WrestleMania history. So let’s break down the four stories individually and see which of them is fit to represent the grandest stage of them all.

You Can Hate Me Now

The first of the four stories focuses on The Miz’s main event match against John Cena at WrestleMania 27. Firstly,

Watch Macho Man Randy Savage Doing Cartoon Voice Work on Space Ghost

If you forgot what Macho Man Randy Savage sounded like then his effort at doing a cartoon voice for Space Ghost then this clip should remind you just how awesome he was. His growling voice and ability to interrupt and insult his opponents was something that always managed to electrify and entertain his fans. Playing Space Ghost’s grandpa though is kind of odd, not to mention that you could easily think that it was going to devolve into something more akin to the WWE. The Macho Man was great in his time but in cartoons it was easy to kind

WWE Icon Ric Flair Cast in R-Rated Wresting Comedy

2-time WWE Hall of Famer and professional wrestling icon Ric Flair will make his movie acting debut in an R-rated wrestling comedy. To wrestling fans, Flair of course needs no introduction. He’s an (at least) 16-time world champion within the scripted sport, and one of its few performers to likely be well-known to even those who’ve never actually watched a wrestling event, such as The Rock, Hulk Hogan, “Macho ManRandy Savage, and “Stone ColdSteve Austin. Flair is truly a pop culture legend, and will seemingly be one long after he’s no longer around to yell his trademark Woooooo!.

Comic Book Review – WWE Royal Rumble Special #1

Liam Hoofe reviews WWE Royal Rumble Special #1…

WWE’s 31st annual Royal Rumble event will take place in a little under three weeks and to celebrate the occasion, Boom! Comics have released their latest anthology special, Royal Rumble #1. The anthology issues for the big four events have, thus far, been fairly hit and miss. The SummerSlam special, released back in August, was a brilliant collection of stories, while, the Survivor Series special was an inconsistent edition that couldn’t live up to the event it was representing. It gives me great pleasure to tell you then, that Royal Rumble, is a return to form for the series, telling four enjoyable stories from the event’s rich history.

The first of these stories is ‘To Be Number One’ which tells the story of Ric Flair’s 1992 Royal Rumble triumph, and the backstage events after the match. The 92 Rumble has a fond

Comic Book Review – WWE SummerSlam Special 2017

Liam Hoofe reviews Boom! Studios’ WWE SummerSlam Special 2017…

WWE SummerSlam is one of the company’s biggest PPV’s and it has a long and storied history spanning back 29 years. The latest WWE special, SummerSlam 2017, from Boom! Studios gives us four stories based on historical moments and matches from the show, lovingly recreating them for long time lovers of the WWE product.

The first story in the collection is I Wined and Dined with Kings and Queens, a panel based on the matchup between Dusty Rhodes and Macho Man Randy Savage from the 1990 edition of the show. Told from the perspective of a fan who can’t decide which of the two stars he is loyal to in the build-up to the match, the story is an affectionate love letter to being a younger fan. SummerSlam has always had a special place in my heart as a fan, it was the first PPV I watched,

Lucha Underground: The Cup Begins

The Cueto Cup Tournament began on Lucha Underground this week, seeing the competitors in Group A of the tournament facing off to see who would advance to the next round. The episode brought us some interesting matches as well as some storyline focus on the Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Johnny Mundo match that will occur at Ultima Lucha Tres.

The opening match between The Mack and Mala Suerte was hard fought but didn't need to be. Mala Suerte was not put in a position to look strong. He got some offense in during the match of course, preventing it from being a complete squash, yet Mala Suerte gained nothing from this match. The Mack came out a little worse for wear due to taking a long time to beat someone he should have soundly beaten. In a wrestling match, you ideally want to accomplish two things. You want a winner,
