'Office' Star Talks Ladies-Only Comedy Show

'Office' Star Talks Ladies-Only Comedy Show
"The idea was comedy for women, but it's not like a 'Cathy' cartoon; it's way hipper."

That's how "The Office" star Kate Flannery describes her new all-female stand-up show, "StandUp In Stilettos," coming to the TV Guide Network this month. The show's 12 episodes will feature 36 women, three per episode, performing comedy in front of a live audience. Flannery hopes the easily digestible segments will expose the Guide's browsers to quality comedy of the female variety.

"It's a nice intro for people who might be closed-minded about women in comedy," Flannery said in an interview. "I cannot believe that in all the years that there have been female stand-ups, there has never been a show just for them. The girls can play just as hard as the boys, so I think it's long overdue."

And based on the first (and as of writing, only) comment on the show's preview video on YouTube,

What It’s Like to Meet Michael Lohan

As some of you know, almost a month ago exactly I packed up my many trinkets and tunics, slapped my New York City super in the face, and bought a one way ticket to Los Angeles, where I am now residing. This move was not prompted so much by the fact that I had spent the 12 best years of my life living in a cement hole, moreso because I had landed a real life television job. That’s right, I am now the co-host of The Gossip Queens, a nightly gab fest airing on Logo at 7 Pm and all throughout the day. Here is an unflattering photo of me on the set! That’s me, far right, saying something hilarious I’m sure, Alec Mapa, in the tie, Bernadette Pauley, lefter, and Loni Love, leftist. We are all comedians, and while we’re also talking gossip with various bloggers and guests,

PIlot Inspector: The Gossip Queens

Tonight, Logo premiered their new View-style chat show The Gossip Queens, hosted by Alec Mapa, Loni Love, Michelle Collins, and Bernadette Pauley. In addition to the show's four person panel, tonight's episode featured three additional guest stars, which made The Gossip Queen's 22-minute running time feel a bit cluttered. The topics were interesting, if a bit vague, but the show's hosts are charismatic enough that The Gossip Queens could be one of this season's best new chat shows once they simplify their format, allow their panel members the opportunity to define...

"The Gossip Queens" Will Premiere On Logo On September 26

MTV's Logo channel and Entertainment Studios cable network Comedy.TV will start airing its newest TV show "The Gossip Queens," a daily half-hour talk show featuring four American comedians. These "queens" will talk about pop culture, entertainment news and celebrity gossip, of course, starting on the show's premiere on September 26.

On each show, the hosts, Loni Love, Alec Mapa, Michelle Collins and Bernadette Pauley, are joined by guests: magazine editors, celebrity gossip bloggers or reporters who can also dish and tell the latest gossip.

For those who don't know, each comedian has guest starred on various TV shows: Love just starred in her own one-hour comedy special on Comedy Central, and has appeared on "Chocolate News," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," and "Chelsea Lately;" Mapa has co-hosted "The View," guest-starred on "Seinfeld," "Roseanne" and "Friends," and had a stand-up comedy special on

'Gossip Queens' set to rule the small screen

More celebrity gossip is on the way to the small screen. Latest entrant is "The Gossip Queens," a first-run syndie project from Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, which is getting a slow-rollout on stations in several substantial markets as well as timeslots on MTV's Logo nicher and Allen's own HD outlet Comedy.TV.

Shot in HD, "The Gossip Queens" is a daily half-hour strip which begins in syndication in two weeks on Wciu in Chicago, the NBC O&O Kntv in San Francisco, Gannett's Wtsp in Tampa, Cox's Wrdq in Orlando and Sinclair's Wbff in Baltimore.

The show features four comedians discussing pop culture, entertainment news and celebrity shenanigans. The hosts -- Lori Love, Alec Mapa, Michelle Collins and Bernadette Pauley -- have all had stand-up and other experience on outlets like Comedy Central. They will be joined by various gossip bloggers and magazine editors who will bring their own dish to the party.
