Martin Parry started shooting radical left-wing documentaries at the age of nineteen working in deprived housing estates of Thatcher's windswept desolate 80's Britain. He made political agit-prop films with communities that had no voice of their own to express the hardships and deprivation of that time. Having spent six years as a guerilla film-maker in the wilderness he decided to get serious about movie making and spent three years at Bournemouth film school shooting mostly student 16mm films gaining experience as a cinematographer and forging a lifelong friendship with director Alex Ross. He has shot films in Europe, Asia, North America - worked on feature films with Dougray Scott/Rutger Hauer/Jürgen Prochnow. Martin has also worked in Hollywood shooting on the Culver City studio lot and travelled extensively filming numerous documentaries in Vietnam, Cambodia and generally having a good time of it. He shot Alex Ross' awarding winning Bournemouth graduation film "Jacob's Ladder" and teamed up again with Alex in 1998 to shoot "Move On Up" in Berlin, which received the prestigious Adolf Grimme Prize in 2000. In 2009 they teamed up again to shoot "Tom Atkins Blues". 2015 saw the completion of their latest collaboration - "Weak Heart Drop" Ask who he rates as an inspiration - there's only one 'Don McCullin' for his veracity in the face of adversity in a sea of mediocrity.
