Among his many plays are Flaubert's Latest, An Imaginary Life, QED (in which Alan Alda starred as physicist Richard Feynmann), The Sorrows of Stephen, The Cider House Rules: Here in St. Cloud's and The Cider House Rules: In Other Parts of the World (both based the novel The Cider House Rules by John Irving), Romance Language, Scooter Thomas Makes It to the Top of the World, The Rise & Rise of Daniel Rocket (made into a TV movie starring Tom Hulce, and Hyde in Hollywood.

- (June 12 to September 27, 1998) His adaptation of John Irving's novel, "The Cider House Rules," (a new play in two parts), was performed at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California with Tom Beyer, Jillian Armenante, Jane Carr, Josh Hamilton, Kevin Jackson, Brenda Wehle and Michael Winters in the cast. Tom Hulce and Jane Jones were developers and directors. John Arnone was scenic designer. James F. Ingalls was lighting designer. David Zinn was costume designer.
- (March 10 to May 13, 2001) His play, "QED," was performed in a world premiere at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The play was inspired by the writings of Richard Feynman and Ralph Leighton's "Tuva or Bust!." Gordon Davidson was director.

Oskar Eustis was director. Eugene Lee was set designer. William Lane was costume designer. D.M. Wood was lighting designer. Peter Sasha Hurowitz was sound designer.
