Severo Ochoa was born on 24 September 1905 in Luarca, Asturias, Spain. He was previously married to Carmen Garcia Cobian. He died on 1 November 1993 in Madrid, Spain.
Pictured on a nondenominated USA commemorative postage stamp in the American Scientists series, issued 16 June 2011. The face value of the stamp on day of issue was 44¢.
