Before she was a three-time Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize winner, as well as an Oscar winner, Andrea Arnold was captivated with depicting reckless behavior and the subsequent consequences, as proven by her debut short film, “Milk.” With a shoestring cast and a ten-minute runtime, “Milk” cuts straight to the core without wasting a breath.

Following a miscarriage, Hetty (Lynda Steadman) decides not to attend the funeral for her child, despite her husband’s (Stephen McGann) pleading. After wandering around town, she meets Martin (Lee Oakes), and together they embark on an impulsive, drunk joyride in his car. Unconventional and uncompromising, Arnold’s debut short packs the emotional wallop critics audiences have come to admire in her work.

Hadouken! release free download of new single 'Parasite' - listen

Hadouken! have unveiled a free download of a new song called 'Parasite'. The song is a teaser for the 'Leap Of Faith' band's upcoming third album, the follow-up to 2010's For The Masses, which is due for release this September. The track is backed by four mixes from SkisM & Zomboy Remix, Break Remix, Akira Kiteshi Rulin' Remix and The Shadowchild Vocal Mix. Its video is directed by The Mill's Aubrey Woodiwiss and features Lee Oakes. Hadouken!, who recently signed to Ministry of Sound, are currently on a full UK tour of the following dates and venues:

Emmerdale's poodle replacement?

'Emmerdale' bosses want to replace Aaron's dead dog with a poodle. Last week, a devastated Aaron (Danny Miller) broke down when his beloved Alsatian Clyde was savaged in a revenge attack as part of his ongoing feud with thug Mickey (Lee Oakes), but producers of the ITV1 show have come up with a way to help him cope. Director: Daniel Barber Writer: Gary Young Starring: Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Ben Drew, Charlie Creed-Miles, David Bradley, Jack O'Connell, Liam Cunningham Harry Brown (Michael Caine), a retired marine (having served in Northern Ireland), resides in a dank concrete south London council estate. His days are comprised of visiting his hospitalized wife – dutifully avoiding the nearby pedestrian underpass by which wayward youth anxiously swarm awaiting any opportunity to prey upon anyone foolish enough to walk their way – and playing chess in the local pub with his best friend Leonard (David Bradley). His wife soon dies of a terminal disease and Leonard is stabbed to death by the feral Biro-tattooed gangsters (who appear to constitute the estate's entire under-40 population) who terrorize Harry’s neighborhood. (The latter’s death occurs shortly after Leonard expressed his fear of the youth of today and Harry promptly dissuaded Leonard from taking the law into his own hands.
