Marsha Norman was born on September 21, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. She is known for her work on 'night, Mother (1986), The Laundromat (1985) and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001). Won Broadway's 1991 Tony Award as Best Book (Musical) for "The Secret Garden," She was also Tony-nominated two other times: in 1983, as author of Best Play nominee "Night, Mother," and, also in 1991 and also for "The Secret Garden," writing the lyrics to collaborator Lucy Simon's music as Best Score (Musical).

She won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1983 for the play "'Night, Mother."

Her play, "night, Mother" at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California was awarded the 1986 Outstanding Production Award.
