"Why are you here?" "I had a run in with a space alien." 20th Century Fox has debuted a new TV trailer, a 60-second spot, for Shane Black's new The Predator movie. We only just got the very first teaser trailer for this a month ago, and it's scheduled for release in September, so it's good to see some more new footage here. The big reveal in this is that there's a second Predator that appears out of nowhere at the end. What in the hell...? The ensemble cast is lead by Jacob Tremblay, who "accidentally triggers" their return to Earth again, along with Sterling K. Brown, Yvonne Strahovski, Olivia Munn, Lochlyn Munro, Thomas Jane, Boyd Holbrook, Jake Busey, Keegan-Michael Key, Niall Matter, Trevante Rhodes (from Moonlight), plus Edward James Olmos. Looks good. 'Riverdale' Boss Breaks Down Finale Shocker, Previews New Genre for Season 3

Riverdale, 2017's surprise CW sensation, returned last fall for a second season with a new genre and nearly twice the number of episodes. Gone was the murder-mystery format that had Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead hunting Jason Blossom's killer. In its place was a Zodiac-inspired serial killer yarn wrapped around a mafia movie.

The genre-bending action of season two came to a conclusion Wednesday with Betty's (Lili Reinhart) dad (Lochlyn Munro) locked up behind a pane of glass — Hannibal Lecter-style — and Archie (K.J. Apa) in handcuffs and arrested for murder, seemingly at the behest of ...

First Teaser Trailer for Shane Black's New 'The Predator' Lands on Earth

"Tell me about the mission - did you see anything unusual?" 20th Century Fox has revealed the first teaser trailer for The Predator, a new take on the Predator sci-fi action franchise, this time directed by Shane Black - who appeared in the original Predator as the character Hawkins. This is somewhat of a re-imagining, or reboot, focusing on only one predator alien again who comes to Earth and wreaks havoc. The ensemble cast is lead by Jacob Tremblay, who "accidentally triggers" their return to Earth again, along with Sterling K. Brown, Yvonne Strahovski, Olivia Munn, Lochlyn Munro, Thomas Jane, Boyd Holbrook, Jake Busey, Keegan-Michael Key, Niall Matter, Trevante Rhodes (from Moonlight), plus Edward James Olmos. This is our long-awaited first look at any footage from this, and so far it looks damn good - of course. It's only a tease but I'm totally sold already. Here's the first teaser

If You Suspect Betty's Dad Is Actually the Black Hood on Riverdale, You Need to See This

In season one of Riverdale the big mystery revolved around who killed Jason Blossom, and we were worried The CW's eerie drama wouldn't be able to top that dark, twisted storyline. Now that season two is starting to wind down and we know for sure that Riverdale High janitor Mr. Svenson isn't actually the Black Hood, the unsettling puzzle of who the mysterious serial killer really is has started to heat up. So far, all signs seem to point to Betty's father, Hal. But let's back up a second.

The first season ends with Archie's father, Fred Andrews, being shot by an unknown, masked assailant in Pop's diner. The situation looked dire, and many wondered whether or not he'd live to see another day. In the season two premiere, we not only find out that Fred survives the bullet to the stomach (woo!), but also that the man who

Riverdale’s Parents Are The Worst

It’s a Sunday night: you’ve just finished your job delivering leaflets for a local takeaway, you have algebra homework to do, you haven’t cleaned your room and your mum’s on the warpath. You’re sat in bed with ice cream watching serial killer documentaries and listening to The Smiths. Everything’s fine.

We’ve all been teenagers, and it isn’t easy. Puberty’s happening. You’re trying to do homework instead of going out with your friends every night. All your friends are making out with friends of friends. You have to think of clever tweets and take aesthetic selfies for Instagram. Your phone cannot be out of your line of sight for a second. It’s the apocalypse.

And your parents don’t understand, they’re just in your face all the time, trying to make you do chores or last week’s essay.

‘The Unspoken’ Review

Stars: Jodelle Ferland, Lochlyn Munro, Neal McDonough, Sunny Suljic, Pascale Hutton, Anthony Konechny, Jonathan Whitesell, Jake Croker, Chanelle Peloso, Rukiya Bernard | Written and Directed by Sheldon Wilson

When it comes to horror we get used to certain tropes appearing in the films. These are often accepted and taken in the fun of the horror experience, as long as the film manages to deliver the expected level of entertainment. The Unspoken is a film where you’ll find many tropes at work, but does it deliver?

After a night in 1997 when a family mysteriously vanished from their home, the house is left vacant for 17 years. When a new family move in, Angela (Jodelle Ferland) agrees to help look after their child. Now undisturbed though the house appears to be coming back to life, and has a keen interest in Angela herself.

If there is one thing that The Unspoken doesn’t do,

Review: The Unspoken, In Search of Scares

Jump scares aplenty haunt The Unspoken, a movie that is populated by menacing men and weak-willed women. Rather confusingly, it's set in the modern day. A period setting might have explained better the brutish bullies and fearful females who fill out the main cast. In any event, after a prelude that is meant to establish the reason why a small town in upstate New York is still frightened of an isolated house located beyond its outskirts some 17 years later, Angela (Jodelle Ferland) is introduced. Angela's father (Lochlyn Munro) has been laid off for months and his job prospects do not look good. As the only child of a single parent, Angela realizes she needs to help out and so agrees to meet Mrs. Peterson...

[Review] The Unspoken

There are only so many iterations of the haunted house trope and yet they continue getting made. Sometimes we’re lucky with James Wan’s The Conjuring series delivering fear along with period aesthetic and tense mood, but those are few and far between. More often we receive work trying hard to stand out from the pack that prove less than inspired with the past decade or so seeing an uptick in violence and gore to make up for any redundancies in themes. To that end I commend regular genre TV movie director Sheldon Wilson for showing restraint on The Unspoken. Atmosphere is paramount as it should be, but sadly it’s created almost solely from jump scares the prologue quickly numbs us towards as soon as things get going.

It’s 1997 and a seemingly empty house has blood-covered windows and abandoned cars in the front driveway. The door swings

Blackburn Draws You Down into a Fiery Rabbit Hole: A Film Review

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by 3Brane Entertainment. This reviewer and writer Nastasha Baron have worked on publicity for this film. Director: Lauro Chartrand. Writer: Nastasha Baron. Cast: Lochlyn Munro, Calum Worthy, Alexander Calvert, Emilie Ullerup and Sarah Lind. Blackburn is an indie film from 3Brane Entertainment. Filmed near Vancouver, British Columbia, this title was shot by long-time stunt co-ordinator Lauro Chartrand. And, the film was written by 3Brane Entertainment studio head Nastasha Baron. Starring Lochlyn Munro (Poker Night), Calum Worthy, Sarah Lind and many more, this film is a restricted horror outing. The film hosts a bit of Adr (automated dialogue replacement), but it is hardly noticeable. The film's story, involving a group of escaped mental patients, is more significant, in that characters and subplots are well developed. The bloodshed and murder amplify the plot, but do not distract from the compelling story. Blackburn is an.
