The actress, 35, is a mother to 5-year-old twins Charlie and Poppy, who she shares with her husband and former True Blood costar Stephen Moyer. She had an early taste of the spotlight as a child actor, going on to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1994 for the film The Piano when she was 11.
“Everyone chooses what works for their family. There are aspects of one’s private life that are fun and cute and not too revealing,” she told Today Parents on Thursday.
With Dr. Campbell attending an anti-mutant summit to try to drum up national support for his Hound program, the Hellfire Club entices Polaris (Emma Dumont) into action. While all of this is going on, Jace (Coby Bell) makes an all-out attack on the Mutant Underground Headquarters where Andy (Percy Hynes White) is more than ready to take them on.
Showing the final two episodes of The Gifted season 1 was a smart move. Focusing on two-story strands the slower events with Dr. Campbell are handled in the first hour with the more action based events which focus on Andy’s need for action, and his obvious move to the darkside.
Tensions are high at Mutant HQ, and Jace Turner (Coby Bell) is more determined than ever to capture the Mutants, especially after the apparent betrayal. Reed and Kate Strucker (Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker) decide that their family should leave the HQ, but Dr. Campbell (Garret Dillahunt) has plans to recapture the Strucker kids.
The Gifted starts at full speed this week with the revelation that Esme and her sisters are part of the Hellfire Club. This is interesting of course because it connects with the Struckers (Von Struckers) and their past. Not only that, but other mutants
This is great! I'm happy that we will get to see the story continue with these characters. The thirteen episode first season isn't over yet. There will be a two-hour finale set for January 15th.
I wasn't sure what would happen with this show, especially since Disney bought Fox, but it doesn't look like that is going to affect the series... yet. Hopefully, the series will have a long life... if it continues to stay good.
The Gifted is produced by Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory, and the second season will be a part of the 2018-19 release season.

This week Reed Strucker (Stephen Moyer) and wife Kate (Amy Acker) are manipulated by Esme (Skyler Samuels) to try to get help from Jace (Coby Bell) to protect their kids from Trask Industries. With them gone though, Esme then uses this to force the other mutants to plan an attack that could put them all in trouble.
For most of this episode, things are a little slow, with the characters more interested in talking about their predicament instead of taking action. Even Reed and Kate forcing
With the Struckers dealing with the news about Andy and Lauren, the rest of the mutants look to Trask Industries. With Esme (Skyler Samuels) the new mutant with psychic powers apparently manipulating the situation, is she all she seems?
If there is one thing that the Mutant Underground has handled so far, it is not to overstretch themselves and get into trouble. This week though as time is running out, the need to act slowly worms its way into the group. The audience gets to see that Esme is doing a good job at pushing this too, raising the potential that she may be a mole in the group.
