Award winning writer/director Rick Mowat, won Best Director for his first feature film, A Cat's Tale. A graduate of The Juilliard School, his award-winning short films include the recently released Hunter iS F**ked which has appeared in over 12 festivals and won Best Dark Comedy and Best Ensemble Cast awards so far. Rick has also written and or directed - The Meet, Absolution, Marty Learns To Drive and Hanging Plant. His films have played at the Woodstock Film Festival, PBS' Reel Thirteen, The Chelsea International Film Festival, London Rocks, The Brussels International Film Festival, The Austin Comedy Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives in NYC, the Portland Comedy Film Festival, Woods Hole Film Festival, Lake Placid Film Festival and The Eugene International Film Festival. Rick was co-writer and performer of the smash hit theatrical comedy, Smash The Treadmill, that won #1 Critics Pick by TimeOut Magazine. Rick has also directed numerous stage productions including the award winning Can't Cut My Head Off at Polaris North and the sci-fi rock musical, The Last American as well as dozens of theater productions for the Dramatic Question Theater Company, The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre and The Soho Playhouse. Most recently, he has directed La Got Fria (A Comedy about Cancer) at the Thalia Theater in NYC, Marcel and Eddie at the Tarte Theater and Murray & Curry at the The Depot Theater in Garrison, NY. He has also acted in Woody Allen's Celebrity, Sweet and Lowdown and The Town I Love; and worked as an improvisational sketch actor in clubs around the country. His second feature film, co-written and directed by Mowat, entitled Last Pint, is to be shot in 2023. Rick has also written articles for Filmmaker and Script magazines.
