So far, Amazon has scored one big hit in the form of Jeffrey Tambor-led dramedy Transparent, and it hopes to find some more in the new lineup of pilots, which will be made available for viewing as part of the company’s first pilot season of 2015.

Enclosed are descriptions of all seven pilots, courtesy of Deadline. The talented involved on all of them is impressive, to say the least. Mad Dogs comes from Cris Cole (The Bill) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield), while The Man In The High Castle hails from Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files). Carlton Cuse (Lost, The Strain) and Randall Wallace (Braveheart) are behind Point Of Honor,

TV Review: ‘Playing House’

TV Review: ‘Playing House’
Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham certainly merit points for perseverance. Having co-created and starred in the short-lived, modestly appealing NBC sitcom “Best Friends Forever,” they migrate within the same corporate hierarchy over to USA, collaborating on the modestly appealing “Playing House.” Both shows involve the two pals living together, here in preparation for the birth of a baby. While the duo has an obvious rapport, this is still a rather wispy premise for a network whose sitcom development remains on wobbly toddler legs.

The fairly classic set-up has St. Clair’s Emma as the hard-driving career woman (she’s initially seen working in Shanghai) returning home to throw a baby shower for her bosom buddy Maggie (Parham). Still, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out Maggie’s husband (Brad Morris) is a bit of a worm and that Emma will ultimately be moving in to help guide

Michael Gaston Cast In HBO’s ‘Leftovers’, Amanda Walsh Leads Fox’s ‘Wtf America’

Co-written by Lindelof and Tom Perrotta based on Perrotta’s book, the project takes place after the Rapture happens but not quite like it’s supposed to. It is the story of the people who didn’t make the cut… and a world that will never be the same. Gaston, repped by Apa and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, will play Dean, a man who seems to understand that times have changed and addresses it head-on — often violently. He has recurred on Mad Men, The Mentalist and Damages. Amanda Walsh, Steve Burg, Rebecca Drysdale and Brad Morris star in Fox’s Wtf America, a preliminary presentation for a hybrid scripted/unscripted project with a bit of reality from Dan Maser, Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV. Fall 2011-12 drama and comedy pilots: What's the next hit (and what's headed to the trash bin)
After spending untold amounts of cash on hundreds of dramas and comedies — most of which will never make it to your living rooms — the five broadcast networks will begin announcing in New York next week which projects are good enough to earn a coveted fall pickup. (NBC and Fox will present their fall schedule to advertisers on Monday, followed by ABC on Tuesday, CBS on Wednesday and the CW on Thursday).

Buzz is already strong for several projects (for more on the hot ones, click here). But every year, we always wonder what diamond-in-the-rough was left on the cutting room

TBS Special from Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien Writers Will Air June 27th

Conan O’Brien is passing time until the November 8 premiere of his new TBS show with the 30-city Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour, but you won’t have to wait until then to see his influence on the cable network. Andy Richter, live show opener Reggie Watts, and a bevy of Conan writers will tape a special tentatively titled Team Coco Presents Conan’s Writers Live in Chicago on June 17th, which TBS will air a week and a half later on June 27th. I believe that Conan’s legal obligations will preclude an appearance, but a night of comedy from the men who help make him funny is a delightful consolation process. For you Chicagoans, tickets for the Bank of America Theater event go on sale Friday May 28th at 10:00 Am.

Spike orders 'Peep Show'

Spike orders 'Peep Show'
Spike TV is peering into "Peep Show," handing out a pilot order to the single-camera comedy adaptation of a British series.

"Peep Show" -- from Pangea, the scripted arm of Rdf USA, and British producers Objective -- is a modern-day "Odd Couple" centering on Jeremy (Rob Chester Smith), a slacker with misguided musical ambitions, and Mark (Brad Morris), his uptight, office-drone roommate, who are living together and trying to survive the many unexpected hurdles life throws at them. The stories are told with what is described as a "unique" first-person perspective and voice-over from the characters.

Shooting on the half-hour pilot just wrapped in Chicago.

David Richardson ("The Simpsons") is serving as showrunner/exec producer on Spike's version. Dylan Kidd ("Roger Dodger") directed the pilot from a script by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, writers on the U.K. series. Chris Coelen, Karrie Wolfe, Brian Lenard, John Lynch and the
