Creed 2 Begins Production In Philadelphia – Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson Back For Sequel

Production begins today in Philadelphia on Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures and Warner Bros. PicturesCreed II, starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, reprising their roles of Adonis Creed and Rocky Balboa respectively. Creed II is the continuation of the Rocky saga and sequel to the 2015 critically acclaimed and crowd-pleasing 2015 hit Creed, which took in more than $170 million at the worldwide box office. Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), who directed the first film, returns to the franchise as an executive producer on Creed II.

The new film is being directed by Steven Caple Jr., who helmed the acclaimed 2016 drama The Land.

“When I wrote and directed Creed, I wanted to tell a human story about a family from a new perspective, while also paying homage to the Rocky characters we’ve all grown up knowing and loving. I’ve known Steven was an amazing filmmaker since our days at USC film school together,

J.D. Salinger gets the biopic treatment with “Rebel in the Rye”

Perhaps no author fascinates the world like J.D. Salinger does. Whether it’s if there will ever be a movie version of The Catcher in the Rye or actual details of the man’s life, he captivates. A recent documentary called Salinger shed some light on him, but now a biopic is hitting theaters in Rebel in the Rye. It comes out this week and will probably struggle to stand out in the crowd. It had a fairly muted debut back in January at the Sundance Film Festival and it stands to reason that it’ll be pretty much the same thing here in general release. It’s a shame too, as Salinger deserves more. The film is a biopic about the aforementioned J.D. Salinger (Nicholas Hoult), a young man and aspiring writer who would go on to write one of the all time great novels in The Catcher in the Rye.

Terminator Genisys review

Schwarzenegger's back, but how does Terminator Genisys match its predecessors? Here's Ryan's verdict...

If you’d acquired the multi-million dollar rights to the Terminator franchise in an auction, what would you do with them? After the sun-drenched, overblown and dusty mayhem of 2009's Terminator Salvation, the sensible answer might be to take the series back to its roots. Return to the chase format of James Cameron’s twin classics Terminator and Terminator 2. Tone down the armies of robot motorcycles and mechanical swimming snakes. Bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Such is the approach taken by director Alan (Thor: The Dark World, Game Of Thrones) Taylor and screenwriters Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis in Terminator Genisys. Six years after Salvation failed to take off, the franchise is now in the hands of the production company Skydance, which has taken a similarly reverential approach to the Terminator as it did with its Star Trek

Film Review: ‘Terminator Genisys’

Film Review: ‘Terminator Genisys’
“I’m old, not obsolete,” mutters Arnold Schwarzenegger’s aging android in “Terminator Genisys,” and his words could be a wishful mantra for this nervy, silly, almost admirably misguided attempt to give the 31-year-old franchise a massive cybernetic facelift. More or less rewriting everything we thought we knew about the Connor genealogy, the properties of liquid metal, and the rules of post-1984 time travel, this f/x-encrusted reboot feels at once back-to-basics and confoundingly revisionist, teeming with alternate timelines and rejiggered character histories (the most perplexing of which finds Sarah Connor now continually referring to Schwarzenegger’s Terminator as “Pops”). Consider it the 3D blockbuster equivalent of disruptive technology, and while online fans have already voiced their displeasure, the movie’s willingness to veer crazily off-course feels less objectionable than the monotony and sense of self-parody that kick in long before the whimper of a finish.

Thor: The Dark World Blu-Ray Review Plus Cast Interview Bites

Thor: The Dark World Blu-Ray Review

The second installment of the Thor saga has plenty of action, but misses the mark to a certain extent when it comes to the wide array of facets it hopes to infuse into the story. The dedication to, and belief in, the depth and breadth of the various arcs in the story are solidified in the bonus features of the home release, and while the exposition makes for elaborate and detailed featurettes, they probably serve as too clear a sign of what went wrong with the production.

Thor: The Dark World kicks off with a rather clunky piece of development that leaves Thor explaining the events of The Avengers, his time back on Earth, and subsequent lack of phone call to Jane. Of course, the film also needs a villain to come and destroy a good chunk of the map and/or threaten to do same,

22 Things We Learned from the ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Commentary

By the end of the year, we will be ten films deep in Marvel Studios mythology, which is quite a feat by any standard. While not every film can be the billion-dollar blockbuster like The Avengers or Iron Man 3, the smaller ones still make plenty of money worldwide and provide a substantial amount of connective tissue in the overall universe. In November 2013, Thor: The Dark World came out, performing about as well as its predecessor (which is to say good, but not great). The film wraps up a lot of Loki’s storyline from Thor and The Avengers, but more importantly, the mid-credits sequence leads into The Guardians of the Galaxy, due out in August 2014. For the DVD and Blu-ray release, director Alan Taylor sits down with Marvel guru Kevin Feige, villainous heartthrob Tom Hiddleston, and cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau to talk about the film and reveal the behind-the-scenes process of not just making a superhero film

Starz Network Shines in Asc TV Noms
Is the Starz Network on a par with HBO? Judging by the American Society of Cinematographers’ TV nominations for its 28th annual kudofest, visually, at least, the decade-old premium cabler is serving up some tasty originals, with three noms to match HBO’s total.

Also vying for one-hour episodic are David Franco, Jonathan Freeman and Anette Haellmigk for HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and two different episodes of “Game of Thrones,” respectively. Pierre Gill (Showtime’s “The Borgias”), David Greene (CW’s “Beauty and the Beast”), Kramer Morgenthau (Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow”) and Ousama Rawi (NBC’s “Dracula”).
