Damah Faith-Based Film Festival Shifts to Tokyo
The Damah Film Festival, a competitive festival which specializes in short films focused on spirituality, is relocating to Tokyo. It will run May 10-11 and be based at the Kitazawa Town Hall in city’s Shimokitazawa district.

The festival was launched in Seattle in 2001, relocated to Culver City, California and has been settled in Hiroshima, Japan for the past five years. The Damah Hiroshima event has been rebranded and will continue as the Hiroshima International Film Festival. Damah is a Hebrew word which means metaphor or parable.

“It is a double win for us. The Hiroshima International Film Festival will continue to grow and expand, and Damah will continue in Tokyo,” said Damah’s co-founder and President of the board of Directors, Mark Joseph

Universal Pictures will release a restored version of Steven Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List” on Dec. 7 for a limited theatrical engagement to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its opening.

“Schindler’s List” follows the enigmatic Oskar Schindler, played by Liam Neeson, who saved the lives of more than 1,100 Jews during the Holocaust. The film has been remastered in 4K, Dolby Cinema, and Dolby Atmos. Spielberg supervised the restoration from the original film negative.

The film won seven Academy Awards, including best picture and best director for Spielberg. It also won Oscars for composer John Williams, screenwriter Steven Zaillian, director of photography Janusz Kaminski, art directors Allan Starski and Ewa Braun, editor Michael Kahn, and producers Spielberg, Gerald R. Molen, and Branko Lustig. It was also a strong box office performer with $320 million worldwide.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List, Universal will be re-releasing the movie in a limited engagement on December 7, with picture and sound digitally remastered as overseen by the filmmaker. This includes a release in formats such as 4K, Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos.

Schindler’s List was a very personal film for Spielberg and it went on to win seven Oscars including Best Picture and his first as Best Director. It also is one of the top-grossing black-and-white films at the domestic box office with $96M, part of its $321.3M worldwide take. Schindler’s List tells the story of German industrialist Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), who saved the lives of more than 1,100 Jews during the Holocaust. The movie was released on December 15, 1993, and played limited before breaking 1,000 theaters in the middle of March 1994.

HBO Acquires Documentary On USA Gymnastics Sexual-Abuse Scandal

HBO Documentary Films has acquired worldwide TV and streaming rights to At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal, which explores the sexual abuse scandal that shook the sports world in 2017.

Slated to bow on HBO, next year, the film is directed by Erin Lee Carr (HBO’s Mommy Dead and Dearest) and based on years of research by producers David Ulich and Dr. Steven Ungerleider. New Film Compares Trump to Famous President Lincoln

Dinesh D’Souza has recently told reporters of his upcoming film that will likely compare current president Trump to one his much earlier predecessors, president Lincoln. D’Souza has even gone as far to have a poster made for the film that shows Trump morphing into Lincoln in a move that has aroused controversy in the United States.

The poster itself shows a United States flag, images of the Civil War and slavery, modern university riots, as well as the two presidents, with their faces combined into one. The poster further contains the name of D’Souza as the director, as well as Gerald R. Molen, and is advertised as amalgamation of two of Steven Spielberg’s most famous films: Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List.

With a new trailer for the massive shark movie The Meg (based on Steve Alten's 1997 book) expected to arrive soon, EW unveiled a new image from the film (see below) that shows the prehistoric size of the Megalodon shark, which makes beachgoers look like minnows in comparison.

New August 2018 Release Date for Massive Shark Movie Meg

It's capable of bringing down a T-Rex in prehistoric times, so just imagine the meal it could have with a modern-day menu. The massive Megalodon shark from Steve Alten's 1997 novel, Meg, will finally come to life on film via Warner Bros., but viewers now have a bit longer of a wait to see the ultimate apex predator make its splash on the big screen.

Multiple sources, including Variety, report that Meg will now be released in theaters (in 3D and IMAX) on August 10th, 2018, moving it several months from its previous March 2nd slot.

Directed by Jon Turteltaub (Last Vegas, National Treasure) and featuring a cast that includes Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Cliff Curtis, Rainn Wilson, and Ruby Rose, filming on Meg began last October in New Zealand, with shooting on the project also being done in China.

Cliff Curtis Set to Appear in Shark Thriller Meg

As Travis Manawa, he's managed to navigate a world overrun with zombies on Fear The Walking Dead, but he'll soon have to face a more ancient and massive threat in Meg, the upcoming shark thriller from Warner Bros.

Deadline reports that Cliff Curtis is set to appear in the movie Meg, based on Steve Alten's novel of the same name. Curtis will play an Operations Chief on a ship called the Mana One, co-starring alongside Jason Statham, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson, and Li Bingbing.
