The Scariest Serial Killers on TV, According to Critics — IndieWire Survey

The Scariest Serial Killers on TV, According to Critics — IndieWire Survey
Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: Who is the scariest serial killer on TV? You define “scary.” Old and current shows fair game.

Daniel Fienberg (@TheFienPrint), The Hollywood Reporter

Landry from “Friday Night Lights.”

Damian Holbrook (@damianholbrook), TV Guide Magazine

Ok, so he wasn’t necessarily a serial killer, but “Nip/Tuck’s” The Carver gave me a serious case of the scareds. After his first appearance near the end of Season 2, the porcelain-masked serial-slashing maniac who was all about slicing up hot people (because “beauty is a curse,” of course!) ran amok in Season 3 and the amount of series-regular characters he went after was kind of unprecedented. All of the leads

Obscure Movie Characters I Love: Rhona Mitra in “The Life of David Gale”

I’ve decided to add a segment to this site that pays homage to movie characters that didn’t see much screen time but that left an implant in my brain that I was never, ever able to forget. While my crush on Rhona Mitra began after seeing the movie Hollow Man in which she’s in the movie for all of 2 minutes, it was in The Life of David Gale that I realized we had a special actress on our hands. P.S. if you haven’t seen The Life of David Gale it’s a fantastic movie. While Rhona Mitra’s part is tiny

Newswire: Emma Watson and Amanda Seyfried take legal action after stolen nudes are leaked

Earlier today, Variety reported that Emma Watson was taking legal action after learning that some of her private photos had reportedly been stolen and leaked online. And we were preparing to cover just how shitty the world continues to be, but then some more sludge rolled downhill, as we learned that the cyber attack against Watson had likely been waged against several other actresses. According to Gizmodo, Amanda Seyfried, Alyssa Arce, Jillian Murray, Analeigh Tipton, Rhona Mitra, and Iliza Shlesinger had nude photos stolen and leaked online. Variety’s post indicates the stolen Watson photos were taken at a clothes fitting, and doesn’t refer to them as nudes, but Watson had been threatened with such a hack-and-leak after daring to speak up about gender equality.

Seyfried’s lawyer has already sent a cease-and-desist letter to Celeb Jihad regarding the unauthorized publication of her photos, but 4chan has already begun

The 24 Most Important Vampire TV Shows Ever, Ranked
Today is the 20th anniversary of the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” premiere, and the day that “The Vampire Diaries” airs its series finale — a day sure to go down in broadcast history as Vampire TV Day.

But those two shows are far from the only ones to depict bloodsuckers (to use a pejorative term) on screen, and IndieWire has dusted off the TV crypt to unearth a ranker of our favorite fangs.

Yes, we know there’s a lot at stake here.

Vampires, Lycans & Love: An Appreciative Look Back at the Underworld Films

  • DailyDead
While many may scoff when I say this, let me just go ahead and admit right here that I unabashedly love the Underworld movies, a series I once referred to as the “Lord of the Rings of Werewolf Movies.” The first Underworld came along right at the perfect time for me. I was still super into horror action cinema at the time (coming off films like Blade and The Matrix, whose influences were being felt industry-wide), and I just couldn’t think of anything cooler than watching werewolves and vampires kicking each other’s respective otherworldly asses.

Other than the films’ tendencies to sometimes take themselves just a little too seriously, I've always felt like the Underworld movies have unjustly received a bad wrap within the horror community and deserve far more love and respect than they ever get. From their commitment to creating intricate character-driven storytelling that has taken us through (now) five films,

‘Pandorica’ Review

Stars: Luke D’Silva, Jade Hobday, Marc Zammit, Adam Bond, Bentley Kalu, Amed Hashimi, Laura Marie Howard, Adam Ford, Macaulay Callard | Written and Directed by Tom Paton

I had no real expectations going into Pandorica and I came out of it very pleasantly surprised by Tom Paton’s genre busting futuristic dystopian, sci-fi horror, suspense, action-filled tale of what happens when humanity is devolved into its most basic instincts. Well I did say this film was genre busting! One of the best things about Pandorica is that you really can’t put it in any bracket (no matter how hard you try for the purpose a review).

Set somewhere in the future we meet a small group of Natives from the Varosha tribe. Tribe leader Nus (Luke D’Silva) has brought his three bravest and best to take part in a Violent trial to determine who should be leader of the Tribe when Nus expires.

‘Hard Target 2′ Review

Stars: Scott Adkins, Robert Knepper, Rhona Mitra, Temuera Morrison, Ann Truong, Adam Saunders, Jamie Timony, Peter Hardy, Sean Keenan, Troy Honeysett | Written by Matt Harvey, Dominic Morgan, George Huang | Directed by Roel Reine

Take one classic 90s action movie, featuring one of the most iconic action heroes of the decade and directed by a king of the genre. Throw in a two-decade wait and a British action star who is almost single-handedly keeping the old-school Dtv vibe alive (and doing a damn good job of it may I add); and you have Hard Target 2.

Twenty-three years. Has it really been that long? I remember the hype around John Woo’s Hard Target – you couldn’t pick up an issue of Impact Magazine for a least a year beforehand without some mention of the film amongst its pages. It’s actually very surprising that we didn’t get a sequel sooner.
