MP Festival Focus: Dances with Films (June 2-9)

Taking place from June 2-9, 2011 at the Laemmle Sunset 5 in Hollywood, “Dances with Films” bills itself as “The Last Independent Independent Film Festival.”

The festival opens with the world premiere of James Hacking’s “Love’s Kitchen,” starring Dougray Scott, Claire Forlani, Simon Callow and Gordon Ramsay, in which the British chef with the potty mouth plays himself. Closing the festival is Michael Madison’s “Delivered,” which, by its own promotion, is inspired by “True Romance” and “Vanishing Point.”

Among the two-dozen features in the line-up, the films that have been best brought to our attention are “10 Years Later,” a film by first-time filmmaker Aaron Metchik in which Dustin Hoffman’s son Jake gets to show off his chops alongside Rachel Boston; “Letting Go,” in which the “Brady Bunch’s” Christopher Knight stars; and Rachel Boston’s second film in the festival, “The Pill,” in which the actress co-stars with Noah Bean and Anna Chlumsky.
