Horror / Sci-Fi Round-Up: Independence Day 2, Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD, Treachery

Welcome to another horror/sci-fi round-up! This time around we have word of two big cast confirmations for Independence Day 2, details on Scream Factory's Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD release, and information on the new Blanc/Biehn Productions film, Treachery.

Independence Day 2: Last night it was revealed that the first official cast member had signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2, the sequel to his 1996 film that featured massive alien-induced destruction and larger-than-life characters. It's now been confirmed that one of those characters will be coming back, as Emmerich tweeted last night that Jeff Goldblum will appear in the sequel, likely reprising his role as the brainy and dryly humorous David Levinson, who teamed up with fighter pilot Captain Steven Hiller to take down the mothership in the original film. Smith will not be coming back to reprise his role as Steven.

'Soaked in Bleach' Trailer Examines the Death of Kurt Cobain

'Soaked in Bleach' Trailer Examines the Death of Kurt Cobain
Soaked in Bleach reveals the events behind Kurt Cobain's death as seen through the eyes of Tom Grant, the private investigator that was hired by Courtney Love in 1994 to track down her missing husband only days before his deceased body was found at their Seattle home. Kurt Cobain's death was ruled a suicide by the police (a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound), but doubts have circulated for twenty years as to the legitimacy of this ruling, especially due to the work of Mr. Grant, a former L.A. County Sheriff's detective, who did his own investigation and determined there was significant empirical and circumstantial evidence to conclude that foul play could very well have occurred. The film develops as a narrative mystery with cinematic re-creations, interviews with key experts and witnesses and the examination of official artifacts from the 1994 case. In remembrance of the twenty-year anniversary of the death of the legendary Nirvana frontman,

Therefore, BlancBiehn Productions is proud to announce that the Tapped producers have joined in for post-production on Treachery, and the companies are in talks for future projects.

“Octomom the Musical” Opens in La to Sellout Crowds

  • Digital Media Law
A play loosely inspired by the La-area mother who had octotuplets opened last Saturday to standing-room only crowds in Los Angeles. The so-called Octomom is not the only character skewered in the zany musical: other include Bernie Madoff, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, Vince Shamwow (of magic towel fame) and even Octomom’s fertility doctor, who has a mad and somewhat creepy crush on her.

The show has garnered enormous publicity, even including a segment on the CBS Early Show, and generally strong reviews. The two opening night performances were sold out, as is half of the five-weekend run of the show.

I saw the show and loved it. In fact, the entire audience was laughing and applauding throughout the show. Full disclosure: I’m not an objective observer, since I’m legal counsel for the play. So, go to the show’s website to read the independent reviews, and

She should be able to command authority, play broad range of facial expressions plus physical comedy. Sketch and improv experience a plus. Likable, energetic and at the same time able to be emotionally expressive and believable....
