Silke Matzpohl was born in Germany. She is known for her work on The
Rum Diary (2011), Love Happens (2009 ) and When in Rome (2010) She
started playing piano at a very young age, and quickly discovered that
music is her world. After winning several national and international
piano awards she received a scholarship by the age of thirteen and
became a student at the prestigious University of Music and Performing
Arts in Munich, Germany.
She became more and more passionate about working in the film industry and started composing film scores.
She received the Film & TV Music Award in the category "Outstanding Female Composer".
In 2009 she met the composer Christopher Young, who became her mentor. Her scores for "Awakening Arthur" (starring Robert Miano) and "Life with Mountain View" were awarded at the Park City Film Music Festival and the music for "Awakening Arthur" was also awarded at the Los Angeles Movie Awards in 2010.
Silke is one of the most promising new composers in Hollywood.
