Trivia:
Daughter of Barrett and Hilda Mantle (born Helen Greenberg). Sister of Alan Mantle who was born in the UK, whilst Doreen herself was born in South Africa. The family travelled to England in 1926 when Doreen was just six weeks old and spent the next four years in London before leaving again for South Africa in 1930 when her brother Alan (who was born in London, England) was just two months old.
