Third Trailer for Colossal 'Mortal Engines' Movie Starring Hera Hilmar

"Nothing can stand in the face of this..." Universal has released a full-length third official trailer for sci-fi adaptation Mortal Engines, based on a popular book series. This movie has been in the works for years, in development by Peter Jackson and the Lotr/Hobbit team. We've already featured two good trailers for this so far, with this one being the pay off, big time, final push. And it looks seriously epic The fantastically eccentric cast includes Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Leila George, Patrick Malahide, and Stephen Lang. The detailed VFX shots from Weta are looking better and better. The plot in this, which still reminds me a bit of Dune, is about huge cities that move around and battle against each other and a woman who threatens everything. This looks, and sounds, like a mix between John Carter and Transformers or something like that.

Peter Jackson has revealed why Mortal Engines took 10 years to make

Peter Jackson has spoken about what caused Mortal Engines to take 10 years to be made.

While Jackson isn’t directing Mortal Engines – that task falls to protégé Christian Rivers – the film is certainly near and dear to the writer/producer’s heart. Jackson has revealed that Mortal Engines has been in the works since 2008 but because the technology wasn’t ready, the film had to be put on hold.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Jackson said: “Certainly, digital CG people and digital doubles are the thing that has really clicked in the last few years. And I’m sure we’ll be seeing quite a bit of that in some of the people I’ve shot on this film. Because this movie is the sort of scale that you can’t really build sets. I mean, we’re building as many sets as we can and we’re building what we can

Mortal Engines Trailer #2: Peter Jackson Unleashes His Next Epic

Mortal Engines Trailer #2: Peter Jackson Unleashes His Next Epic
A brand new Mortal Engines trailer has arrived. Peter Jackson brought one of the most epic and beloved trilogies of all time to the big screen with The Lord of the Rings. While The Hobbit was much less beloved as a trilogy, the man knows how to handle fantasy movies on a massive scale arguably better than anyone else on the planet. Mortal Engines looks to be right up his alley, but this also looks to be quite different than anything else he's ever put his name on in the past.

The prior Mortal Engines trailer was very much a teaser, giving us a brief look at one of the big action set pieces. This gives us a much better idea of the true scope that this movie is handling and what it's going to be about, at least in broad terms. The word epic is thrown around a lot,
