The recently released trailer features Hader as a “world-class” assassin named Barry, whose name seems to be known (and maybe frowned upon) by what looks like a lot of people from the criminal underworld. However, when he travels to Los Angeles to get a job done, he becomes engrossed in a scene you wouldn’t expect a hit man to be interested in: the Los Angeles theater community.

Bill Hader hitman comedy Barry gets series order from HBO

Former Saturday Night Live star Bill Hader is returning to television, with Deadline revealing that HBO has given a series order to the half-hour hitman comedy series Barry. Hader will direct and star in the show, as well as co-writing and executive producing with Alec Berg (Silicon Valley).

Barry follows “an ex-Marine (Hader) who works as a low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he begrudgingly travels to Los Angeles to kill someone and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the La theater scene.”

Lapd officers responded Tuesday night to a report that a single gunshot had been fired from inside a home allegedly rented by actor Stephen Collins, Et can confirm, but it was a false alarm.

Police in Tarzana, the Los Angeles neighborhood where the house is located, told Et that the house was empty when officers arrived on the scene.

Goldberg passed away in her sleep at her family’s cabin in Wisconsin Sept. 27. "She went to sleep and didn't wake up," the actress’s mother Judy Goldberg told the Chicago Sun-Times. It is suspected that a heart ailment is to blame.

Goldberg got the acting bug while working as an extra during the wedding scene in 1997 Julia Roberts vehicle My Best Friends Wedding, which filmed near her family home in Chicago. Up until that point, Goldberg, who’d earned a microbiology degree from Amherst College, planned on becoming a doctor. After she was discovered, she ditched those plans to move to Hollywood, where she soon found success.

After a few small parts in TV and film, Goldberg landed a role on 7th Heaven as eldest son Barry’s love interest.
