Stage: Wrote / produced "Hazel Kirke", produced on Broadway. Melodrama. Madison Square Theatre (production dates unknown/486 performances). NOTES: (1) Play was one of the biggest smash hits on Broadway until that time. It was hailed as the epitome of the new realism, though it was the staging and the technical aspects of the production that were truly "real." The play itself is a romantic melodrama which is set in a mill and which dealt with middle-class characters. (2). Filmed as Hazel Kirke (1912), Hazel Kirke (1916), The Miller's Daughter (1905).
