John grew up in Columbus, Ohio. In 1968, he moved to Juneau, Alaska,
where in addition to his graphic arts and photography "career", he
started making documentary films and a feature in 1978/79. After
"Spirit of the Wind", later called "Attla", won Best Picture at the
1979 US Film Festival (The next year it changed to The Sundance Film
Festival) he moved to Los Angeles for a few years and then to Oregon
where he went to work for Will Vinton Studios for fifteen years. After
a brief stint in San Francisco as animation director on "The Phantom
Investigators", he is settled back in Oregon making short films and
DVDs for fun and teaching animation sometimes at the Oregon 3D school
in Portland.
