It looks like basketball has been an untapped goldmine of comedic riches, as the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul is the latest in a string of NBA players to develop a comedy for television. EW has confirmed that ABC is developing an untitled, somewhat autobiographical comedy with Paul. The project, written by Warren Lieberstein, revolves around the story of two brothers working at their grandfather's service station, where they must contend with his old-school values in contrast to those of their more politically correct mother. The show will be inspired by Paul's experiences growing up with his older brother in North Carolina.

Back in the Game, Season 1, Episode 2, “Stay In or Bail Out”
Directed by Eric Appel
Written by Warren Lieberstein
Airs Wednesdays at 8:30pm Est on ABC
Following its awkward pilot last week, Back in the Game continues to struggle with establishing the format of the show. Although “Stay In or Bail Out” successfully moves the characters forward, it fails to show the audience how the show will operate each week. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it just means the audience can’t fully decide whether the show is worth investing time in yet.
Back in the Game has a very interesting premise, and with two polar opposites working together, the show should provide some laughs, but at the moment this is something it’s failing to do. Although the show appears to be about kids playing baseball, Back in the Game actually focuses on a strong female...

As soon as we thought we could predict the outcome of the Oscars, here comes another surprise! This one's brought to you by the Writers Guild of America. Picked for Best Original Screenplay was Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The director, famously dissed for not getting a Best Director Oscar nomination, may just win the Best Original Screenplay come Oscar night. Oscar front-runner, "The King's Speech" was not nominated because it didn't quality under union rules which prompted Nolan to say during his WGA acceptance award that he looked forward to a time when he could accept the award "without qualification."
That could be the beginning of a great script Mr. Nolan, go write it :happy
For adapted screenplay, I'm happy to report that Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script won! Based on "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, "The Social Network" was the only film last year that I predicted to win this very category.

There is no such thing as a quick walk with a toddler, but Angela Kinsey says she enjoys every moment of her walks with Isabel Ruby, 21 months. “It is an adventure,” the actress insists in a new interview. “We ooh and aah over ants and leaves and flowers.”
Mother and daughter went on a particularly special jaunt at Christmas, while visiting Angela’s relatives in Texas. She shares,
“We went for a walk with my Dad on his farm. We saw little kittens in the barn and snow and birds. These moments may seem like nothing fancy or interesting but they are my favorite.

As hard as it may be to believe sometimes, someone (or someones) actually sits down and writes a movie or TV show before you end up seeing it at your local multiplex or on your favorite TV network. The people who do the sitting and the writing are, surprisingly, called writers and, like the Directors, the Golden Globes and the Oscars, they have their own awards show.
This week, the Writers Guild of America, which is the trade group and advocate for writers, announced its nominations for outstanding achievement in feature film and television, radio, news, promotional writing, and graphic animation during the 2009 season to be honored at the upcoming 2010 Writers Guild Awards on February 20, 2010, in Los Angeles and New York.
We realize that these nominations may not be as glamorous as the Golden Globes or the Oscars, but we kinda like writers around here and think they do a pretty important job.

Despite logging long hours as an actress alongside her costars, Angela Kinsey could never truly relate to the parents on set who felt torn by the demands of children and a career. That is, of course, until she became a mother herself to Isabel Ruby, 19 months.
“I remember a friend of mine was a working parent and we were filming something together,” Angela recalls in the winter issue of Mom. “She was really quiet and I said, ‘What’s the matter?’ She said, ‘I’m missing bath time.’ I didn’t have children yet, but I get it now.
