Has won three Tony Awards: in 1974, as Best Scenic Designer with husband Eugene Lee and as Best Costume Designer for "Candide;" and in 1979 as Best Costume Designer for "Sweeney Todd."
She was nominated for a 1983 Joseph Jefferson Award for Scenic Design for "Gorilla" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
