Libby Langdon is an interior designer, author, product designer and makeover television personality, as well as the creative force behind New York City-based design firm, Libby Interiors, Inc. Libby was the Interior Designer and Host of the FOX Makeover TV show, Design Invasion (2004). The show was a joint production between FOX and Banyan Productions (Trading Spaces (2000)) and premiered on September 13th 2004 which aired everyday on FOX. She would begin each episode at 7:30 AM by knocking on someone's door who has no idea she's coming; she kicks them out of their home and entirely makes over a room in their house in 10 hours! The "target" comes back later that day and the completely transformed room is revealed to them.
As an actress, Libby has appeared in several films. She was in, The Door in the Floor (2004), starring Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger. She finished production on a film called Corn (2004) and wrapped up a film in Texas called When Zachary Beaver Came to Town (2003) with Jonathan Lipnicki. She also starred opposite Al Pacino in the much-anticipated Chinese Coffee (2000). Libby also appeared in Shallow Hal (2001) with Gwyneth Paltrow and in Sidewalks of New York (2001) with Ed Burns. Her other film credits include Kingpin (1996) with Woody Harrelson, Outside Providence (1999) as Alec Baldwin's wife, Say You'll Be Mine (1999) with Gil Bellows and Nicky Katt, and the critically-acclaimed Federal Hill (1994). Libby has appeared on television in The Practice (1997), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999) and on NBC's Another World (1964) as the villainous "Kay". She has also been a guest on "The Food Network" in Bobby Flay's Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay (1998) and "The Robin Leach Cooking Show" with Bill Boggs. Libby has also produced films. She was a producer on A Shot at Glory (2000) starring Robert Duvall and Michael Keaton, Outside Providence (1999), Say You'll Be Mine (1999) and Federal Hill (1994), all in which she also starred. In 2019, Libby Interiors Inc. completed over 21 design projects for clients all over the country, and more than 17 the previous year. In addition to penning Libby Langdon's Small Space Solutions and being a long-standing House Beautiful columnist ("Libby's Makeover" ran for two years), Langdon is also a frequent contributor to leading shelter publications. Her interior projects and home products have been featured in leading shelter magazines, including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Better Homes and Gardens, Domino and Woman's Day. Langdon has been a regular design expert on NBC's TODAY, HGTV's Small Space Big Style, The View, The Rachael Ray Show, The Early Show and NBC's Open House. Thanks to her work in makeover television, Langdon draws inspiration for her home-furnishings collections from countless conversations with consumers across the country about how we really live and what we really want. Langdon is fast becoming known for her growing licensed home-furnishings collections. In October 2020 at High Point Market, she is launching her first decorative accessories line with A&B Home. In October 2019, she introduced a complete home line of upholstery and casegoods for Fairfield Furniture, as well as her first wall-décor collection with Paragon. Her own collection of Libby Langdon Upholstery Furniture features sleek, fresh silhouettes for modern lifestyles and is available at retailers nationwide. The Libby Langdon Lighting Collection for Crystorama personifies her passion for beautiful chandeliers and fixtures, showcasing transitional looks with an updated twist. Additionally, Libby has indoor and outdoor rug collections with KAS Rugs, which are sold online and at retail showrooms across the country.
Libby has been the interior designer for six restaurants in New York City, Palm Beach Florida, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
Libby also loves to cook, her recipes have appeared in Bon Apetit magazine and one of her recipes was featured on the cover of the 1994 July issue. She has also appeared in Food and Wine magazine. Libby recently led a makeover with the She Builds Women in Real Estate committee in New York City, guiding more than 140 female volunteers and transforming a public housing community center in 12 hours. She re-imagined the design for the community center and used her connections with Sherwin-Williams to get more than 340 gallons of paint donated for the one-day redesign. Libby recently joined the board of the Bienenstock Furniture Library in High Point, NC, and is working to raise awareness of this valuable resource available to everyone in the home-furnishings industry. Langdon travels the country presenting her design seminars to consumers, designers and retailers about all things design.
