Matthias Kälin was born on 15 February 1953 in Aarau, Switzerland. He was a cinematographer and director, known for Douleur d'amour (1987), Josephsohn Bildhauer (2007) and The Sound of Insects: Record of a Mummy (2009). He died on 1 September 2008 in Lissabon, Portugal.
