Composer, conductor and teacher, educated at Carthage College in
Carthage, Illinois (since relocated to Kenosha, Wisconsin) with a
Bachelor of Arts degree, the University of Iowa (Master of Arts), and
the Eastman School of Music (Ph.D.), and a music student of Pierre
Monteux, Gustave Strube and Louis Hasselmans. During World War II, he
served in the US Army, then conducted the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Civic
Symphony. He was an educator and conductor at the University of
Georgia, California State College, New York State College, and
Southeastern College of Louisiana. He began composing for films and
television in 1963, and joined ASCAP the following year.
