Popular leading man or villain in the silent era. He often wore fancy wax mustaches. Made a sucessful transtion to sound. Retired from films in 1941 concluding a thirty five year career.

Became a theatrical agent and sometime around 1916 met Rudolph Valentino. The two became fast friends. Kerry is said to have introduced Valentino to dancer Bonnie Glass who became Valentino's partner. Valentino returned the favor by encouraging Kerry to try acting. Later the two friends supported one another through the early stages of their careers. Kerry even helped Valentino financially at this time. They appeared in a film together Passion's Playground (1920).
Did not have a particularly good speaking voice which limited his career during the sound era.
Joined the French Foreign Legion in the 1930's, returning to the U.S. after Germany's invasion of France in 1940.
Played right tackle on the Hempstead High School football team in Long Island, New York.
Was good friends with taxi dancer Rodolfo Guglielmi (Rudolph Valentino).
