Trailer For “Lucy In The Sky” Suggests An Out Of This World Film

One of the titles that I’ve been predicting for probably more Academy Award love than most is the film Lucy in the Sky. Part of it is just a hunch on my part, though a lot of it has to do with the story and the talent involved here. This has a chance to be an under the radar gem. Earlier today, a Trailer was released for Lucy in the Sky, and it doesn’t do anything to make me feel any less confident about its potential. It looks great. We’ll have the Trailer for you at the tail end of this post of course, but before that, I want to talk about what it is and why I think it could be a player. The movie is a character study, mixing a bit of comedy, drama, and even science fiction. Previously known as Pale Blue Dot, this

Natalie Portman Goes to Space With Fargo Director in Lucy In The Sky [Trailer]

If there is anything we know for sure about Noah Hawley it's that typical is not in his vocabulary. If anything, his resume over the last few years includes some of the most interesting, risky storytelling on television (see "Fargo" and "Legion"), and now he's dipping his fingers into the feature film world.

Lucy in the Sky stars Natalie Portman as Lucy Cola, an astronaut who returns to Earth after a mission only to find the day-to-day of her life mundane and she begins to lose touch with reality.

Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, Tig Notaro, Ellen Burstyn, Nick Offerman and Hawley regular Dan Stevens all co-star.

It's not only an interesting story idea but Hawley's style and approach to storytelling are likely to make Lucy in the Sky a tad more interesting t

Trailer For Natalie Portman's Astronaut Drama Lucy In The Sky

The first trailer has been released for Natalie Portman’s upcoming astronaut sci-fi drama called Lucy in the Sky. The film was previously titled Pale Blue Dot, and it comes from Legion and Fargo writer Noah Hawley. This is marks his feature film directorial debut.

The story will explore the theory that astronauts lose touch with reality after prolonged periods in space. Portman plays a successful female astronaut named Lucy Cola who, "after coming back home from a mission in space, starts to unravel when confronted by her seemingly perfect American dream life."

She ends up having an affair with a fellow astronaut (Jon Hamm), which as you might imagine starts spiraling out of control when he begins sleeping with an astronaut trainee. Dan Stevens stars as Lucy’s husband in the film. The movie is actually loosely based on astronaut Lisa Nowak's alleged criminal activities involving her romance with astronaut William Oefelein.

First Trailer Arrives for Noah Hawley's Lucy In The Sky

Kirsten Howard Mar 19, 2019

Natalie Portman stars as an astronaut who isn't coping well with the idea of leading a space-free life.

Here we go! Noah Hawley is getting ready to release his very first feature film for Fox Searchlight later this year. Previously called Pale Blue Dot, this trippy (would you expect anything less from Hawley?) Natalie Portman-starring drama is now entitled Lucy In The Sky, and this is one we've had our eye on for a long time.

Hawley is the man behind both the critically acclaimed Fargo and the absolutely intangible weirdness that is Marvel's Legion over at FX, and while his planned Doctor Doom movie still sits on the back burner at Fox, we're about to see what he's capable of on the big screen with this debut effort.

In Lucy In The Sky, Portman leads the cast as the titular astronaut Lucy, who, after a

First 'Lucy in the Sky' Trailer Starring Natalie Portman as an Astronaut

"You got to see the vast celestial everything, and it blew your mind." Fox Searchlight has finally unveiled the first trailer for Lucy in the Sky, the feature directorial debut of TV filmmaker Noah Hawley (creator of "Fargo" and "Legion"). Formerly titled Pale Blue Dot before Lucy in the Sky (sans diamonds), this film is loosely based on astronaut Lisa Nowak's alleged criminal activities involving her romance with astronaut William Oefelein. In 2007, after completing her mission in space, she drove from Houston to Orlando and confronted another woman. Natalie Portman plays a fictionalized version of her named Lucy Cola, who has a breakdown and starts to lose her grip on reality after returning. The cast also includes Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz, Dan Stevens, Nick Offerman, Tig Notaro, Ellen Burstyn, Colman Domingo, and Joe Williamson. We've all been waiting to get a glimpse at this and, as expected, it looks damn good.

Tuca & Bertie: Netflix's New Series Looks Like If BoJack Horseman and Broad City Had a Baby
Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong are the voices behind Netflix's upcoming animated series, Tuca & Bertie, which I'm pretty sure will become our new favorite show. I should add that the eponymous characters are actually two 30-something bird women: big-screen breakout comedian Haddish voices the bold and gregarious Tuca the toucan, and stand-up star Wong is her introverted Bff and neighbor, Bertie the songbird. The show follows them as they navigate what any other bird-woman would: careers, relationships, sex, and self-esteem. The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun plays Bertie's live-in boyfriend.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Accused of Plagiarizing New York Comedy Duo’s Sketches (Exclusive)
Saturday Night Live” aired last October a sketch about a pumpkin patch where the employees, much to the consternation of the proprietor, engage in sexual intercourse with the product. “The Pumpkin Patch” was lewd, funny, and seasonally appropriate. But according to Nick Ruggia and Ryan Hoffman, it was something else — theft.

Ruggia and Hoffman are the founders of the sketch troupe Temple Horses. Since their first collaboration in 2011, the two New York comedy scene veterans have filmed more than 60 sketches together, many of which are available on their YouTube channel, which boasts more than 3,000 subscribers. Ruggia and Hoffman claim that two of those sketches, “Not Trying to Fuck This Pumpkin” and “Pet Blinders,” were plagiarized by “Saturday Night Live.”

“Imagine, one day you come home and it looks like somebody’s robbed your house,” Hoffman told Variety. “What do you want from that situation? We feel like somebody took our stuff,

Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 is All Over the Space (and Time)

Although Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 took us through the mycelial network and into the Mirror Universe, Season 2 has racked up the light-years in travel.

There was a dash into the Beta Quadrant to save an unknown human colony. Then a run-in with the sinister Section 31. And then trips to Kaminar, Vulcan, and, most recently, Talos IV.

While forging new adventures, this season has been firmly rooted in pre-Kirk Trek lore, introducing Captain Pike and searching for Spock. There seems to be an aim to reboot the nostalgia of the original series if that's even possible.

And they haven't forgotten about their adventures in Season 1. Both Ash Tyler (whoop-dee-doo) and Mu Georgiou (oooh... ahhh...) are deeply enmeshed in this endeavor.

Not only that but they've even tied into their series of mini-episodes, Short Treks, that aired during the hiatus.

The Weaponized Comedy of Hannah Gadsby

It would be a miracle for anyone else, but Gadsby, who’s been plagued by catastrophe her entire life, takes it more or less in stride. When she was nine, she crashed her bike and needed 56 stitches. Instant Family Review

  • HeyUGuys
If there was a film which proves the old adage never judge a book by its cover, Instant Family would be the prime example of it. Marketed as yet another “feel good comedy” with a family twist, the film has surprisingly turned out to have so much more depth and humanity than anyone would have imagined.

Directed by Hot Tub Time Machine writer Sean Anders, Instant Family not so much as redefines the family comedy, but it does the next best thing, it makes its audience care deeply and root for its protagonists in a way which is very rarely achieved within this particular genre.

Rose Byrne and Mark Wahlberg are Ellie and Pete, a hard working couple who despite having been together for some time find that they might have left it too late to have children of their own. Hilarity and much soul-searching ensues when our hapless duo

Bo Report: Tepid debut for ‘Escape Room’ as ‘The Combination’ sequel struggles

‘The Combination Redemption’.

Sony’s psychological thriller Escape Room was the top title last weekend, yet with a mediocre result which would have normally seen the film opening at No. 5 or 6, as ticket sales continued to free fall.

Meanwhile the sequel to 2009 cult hit The Combination struggled to make an impact despite positive coverage by David Stratton and Fairfax Media’s Garry Maddox, underlining yet again the challenges facing most Aussie films which go out on limited screens with minimal P&A support.

Audiences are sick and tired of watching a vengeful Liam Neeson brandishing a gun, judging by the debuts of Cold Pursuit here and in the Us.

The Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On the Basis of Sex, eOne’s third last release before the distributor shuts at the end of March, fared Ok at upmarket locations but poorly at multiplexes.

A contender for the best foreign language Oscar,
