He is a graduate from the very prestigious Moskow State Institute for International Relations /MGIMO/.
He only worked as an actor once - in Printsessa tsirka (1982). Afterwards he went to work as a Czechoslovakian diplomat, in the footsteps of his father. Following the breakup of Czechoslovakia, he chose citizenship in the Czech Republic, and went into international trade.
His father is of Slovak ancestry, and worked as a Czechoslovakian diplomat. His mother is Russian.
He never wished to be an actor, but was drafted to do Printsessa tsirka (1982) by Svetlana Druzhinina when she happened to see him in the lobby of the Bolshoi Ballet. He struggled to get out of it, until his father told him, "Not every actor can be a diplomat, but every diplomat should be an actor." He never acted again.
