Legendary’s The Toxic Avenger Reboot to be Written and Directed by Macon Blair

Legendary Entertainment is taking a trip into Tromaville for a reboot of The Toxic Avenger, and Macon Blair is now in the driver's seat.

Variety reports that Macon Blair will write and direct a reboot of the cult classic Troma movie The Toxic Avenger for Legendary Entertainment, who acquired the feature film rights to The Toxic Avenger in late 2018.

Troma Entertainment's Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, who co-directed the original Toxic Avenger, will serve as executive producers on the reboot, with Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter supervising the project on behalf of Legendary.

Toxic Avenger Reboot Locks in I Don't Feel at Home Director Macon Blair

Legendary's The Toxic Avenger reboot has Green Room's Macon Blair attached to write and direct. The reboot was officially announced late last year and fans of the gross out hero were very excited to hear the news. Now, it appears that the project is finally moving forward with Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz of Troma Entertainment set to produce along with Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter of Legendary. 1984's The Toxic Avenger is often referred to as the movie that built the house of Troma, so the character is very near and dear to the hearts of Kaufman and Herz.

Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz produced The Toxic Avenger in 1984 and Kaufman couldn't be happier to be bringing the character back after a long absence, especially at Legendary. The origin story centers on a janitor who is chased out a second story window. He falls into a vat of toxic waste,

Variety first broke the news, including the fact that Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman and Michel Herz are producing and Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter of Legendary are overseeing the project.

The former two also directed the 1984 original, a midnight-movie staple that was followed by the sequels “The Toxic Avenger Part II,” “The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie,” and “Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV”. “The Toxic Avenger” tells the tried-and-true story of a 98-pound janitor who falls into a vat of toxic waste (as you do) and, imbued with newfound powers,

Horror Comedy Clickbait to Show at This Year's Starburst Film Festival in Manchester

Clickbait is the latest film from production house Launch Over. This film is slated to be distributed, later this year, by ITN Distribution. Starring Colby Stewart (Hollow's Ridge) as Bailey, Clickbait has had a long film festival run, throughout 2018. Now, Clickbait is set to show at this year's Startuburst International Film Festival, in Manchester. Clickbait hopes to bring a few laughs to audiences in mid-March, though it'll undoubtedly be snubbed by next year's Oscars noms, or even snubbed by the snub lists, kind of like how Toni Collette was for Hereditary (2018) on this year's Oscars snub lists. But Hereditary proves that just because the Oscars don't like Horror, it doesn't mean the movie won't be successful. The story for Clickbait involves a college student, searching for internet fame. Unfortunately, Bailey is kidnapped by an internet stalker and the only one who can rescue her is a reluctant roommate. This year's

When the evil execs and their elite guests take a celebratory luxury cruise to North Korea, Prospero uses his science, magic and a load of whale laxative to create the titular Shitstorm, wrecking the cruise ship and causing the execs to wash up in Tromaville.

Squeeze Play

The irrepressible (and who would try?) Lloyd Kaufman gives us the lowdown on the Troma Team’s first big hit, a “world series of laughs” in which disgruntled girlfriends form an all-girl softball team to challenge their macho boyfriends’ team. Notable for what is probably the pre-eminent cinematic depiction of a softball being caught between a pair of butt cheeks. Nsfw.
