British Council & BFI National Archive bringing restored silent classic Shiraz: A Romance of India film on tour to India

The British Council and the British Film Institute (BFI) have announced that, following the 61st BFI London Film Festival world premiere of the restored Shiraz: A Romance of India, screening at the Barbican on 14 October the film will tour four Indian cities as part of the UK/India 2017 Year of Culture. Shiraz: A Romance of India will tour to four Indian cities, following the restoration world premiere as the BFI London Film Festival Archive Gala with specially-commissioned live film score performed by multi Grammy® -nominated composer & musician Anoushka Shankar.

A world leader in film restoration, the BFI holds the original negative material of Shiraz in the Archive. Franz Osten’s sumptuous Indian silent classic has been meticulously remastered by the conservation team at the BFI National Archive. Screening at the BFI Lff as the Archive Gala, the film will then visit Hyderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai in India from 1 November to 5 November,

Bollywood music global, says Karsh Kale

Mumbai, May 12: International composer-singer Karsh Kale feels Bollywood has become global as musicians here use the same tunes and sounds as other pop music of the world.

Apart from playing for Coke Studio, Kale has albums like "Realize", "Broken English" and "Cinema" to his credit.

Musicians lose identity when composing for films: Karsh Kale (Interview)

Mumbai, Nov 30: "Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom," American musician Charlie Parker once said. But that holds no meaning when you compose for films, feels Indian American musician Karsh Kale, the man behind the music for films like "Pyaar Impossible", "Karthik Calling Karthik" and "Chutney Popcorn".

Alicia Keys Charity Concert To Honor George Harrison
New York — Alicia Keys' charity will pay tribute to late Beatle guitarist George Harrison with a star-studded concert in New York City next month.

Her charity, called Keep a Child Alive, will honor Harrison at its annual Black Ball event for his "philanthropic contributions to India."

The charity announced Tuesday that Keys will perform alongside Usher, Norah Jones and will.i.am at the Nov. 3 show at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom. Mary J. Blige, Gary Clark Jr., Jay Sean and Midival Punditz with Karsh Kale will also hit the stage.

Harrison died of lung cancer at age 58 in 2001.

The event marks the eighth year for Keep a Child Alive, which helps children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

All proceeds from the show will go to the charity.
