Review: Vixen the Movie

  • Comicmix
It’s hard to imagine Vixen as a member of the DC Universe for over 35 years now, an early victim of the DC Implosion before arriving as a guest-star in Action Comics. She’s been a constant presence if not a major one, but was exactly in the range of secondary characters ripe for development for television since her powers were not entirely special effects-laden.

Interestingly, she was brought to The CW through their CW Seed website, a way to expand the Arrowverse with original content. In 2015, there were six short animated episodes that performed well enough that a second season arrived last October. The dozen episodes have now been edited into a 78-minute feature, Vixen the Movie, out now from Warner Home Entertainment.

The series is only kinda sort of close to the source material as we learn of Mari Jiwe McCabe’s (Megalyn Echikunwoke) upbringing in the African land of Zambesi,

As her due date approaches with alarming swiftness, the fear, paranoia, and conspiracy theories begin to pile up. Gotham, Ep. 1.04, “Arkham” lays the groundwork for new inciting development

Gotham Season 1, Episode 4, “Arkham”

Written by Ken Woodruff

Directed by T.J. Scott

Airs Mondays at 8pm Et on Fox

“Arkham” picks up right where we left off last week with Oswald Cobblepot at Jim Gordon’s front door, which had potential for an explosive outcome. Although not as incendiary as one might have thought, “Arkham” does pull all the subplots of the previous episodes together and sheds some light on the significance Arkham will have in this series. Gotham has done very well integrating its case of the week stories with the overarching plot in the past but now it’s brought the war between Carmine Falcone and Sal Maroni to the forefront and this gives viewers a look at the key players and their motives.

In “Arkham”, we learn the history of the Arkham district and why it’s of value to the two crime bosses. The Waynes’ foundation

Gotham Review: “Arkham” (Season 1, Episode 4)

Now four episodes in, Gotham remains a vexing enterprise, and this week it leaned heavy on the crutch that I like to call “Batman Easter Egg Wac-a-Mole.” On “Arkham,” we deal with it head on, as the titular asylum is at the center of a re-development scheme that could result in a gang war if it doesn’t go the right way. On top of that, a small time thug who shares a nickname with the flightless birds of Antarctica starts to make his move against the city’s mob power players.

Picking up from last week’s “The Balloonman,” Gordon has words with Oswald, who he told never to come back to Gotham, but Gotham is Oswald’s home and thus he will not leave. What he can do is help Gordon in the war that is to come, a war that may very well start with Arkham, or rather “Arkham City,

Review: 'Gotham' - 'Arkham'

  • Hitfix
Review: 'Gotham' - 'Arkham'
A review of tonight's "Gotham" coming up just as soon as I swear that I voted for you... Earlier today, Fox gave "Gotham" a full-season order — which is something Kevin Reilly said he wouldn't do (he expected the season to max out at 15 or 16 episodes), and something the creative team has suggested they didn't want. Reilly no longer has any say in the matter, and I suppose Bruno Heller and company will have to figure out how to fill six extra episodes in the back half of the season. One plus of the added order, given the extreme likelihood that this show — basically the only bright spot for Fox in an otherwise disastrous fall — will be back for a second season, is that it will give the creative team more time to figure out what works and what doesn't, and exactly what kind of show they want "Gotham" to be tonally.
