“He died peacefully with several close friends and family at his side,” Felder told CNN, adding that he had been hospitalized for two weeks with breathing difficulties.

‘The Simpsons’ to Kick Off Season 33 With First All-Musical Episode Featuring Kristen Bell

‘The Simpsons’ to Kick Off Season 33 With First All-Musical Episode Featuring Kristen Bell
Season 33 of “The Simpsons” will kick off in a musical fashion with a little help from “Frozen” star Kristen Bell, the long-running show’s producers revealed on Saturday.

During the Comic-Con panel “The Simpsons Season 33 and Beyond,” executive producer Matt Selman teased what fans can expect from the Season 33 premiere, which airs on Sept. 26. The musical episode, titled “The Star of the Backstage,” will feature all original songs with Bell as Marge’s singing voice.

“The premiere this year is the most musical episode we’ve ever done – almost wall-to-wall music,” Selman said. “It’s like a Broadway musical of an episode, with all original songs, and we’ve got Kristen Bell playing the role of Marge’s singing voice. We all love Marge’s voice, but this is the singing voice that’s different, let’s just say.”

The panel also shared a sketch of one of the scenes from the episode,

The Simpsons Predicted Richard Branson's Space Voyage Back in 2014

The Simpsons Predicted Richard Branson's Space Voyage Back in 2014
The Simpsons has done it once again. On July 11, Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson traveled to the edge of space as a passenger onboard a test flight for his company to win the so-called "billionaire space race" against Jeff Bezos. Though the trip was brief, it allowed for Branson to experience several minutes of weightlessness before returning to Earth. If the bizarre story seemed oddly familiar, it could be because you're a fan of The Simpsons, as the long-running animated sitcom saw this coming back in 2014.

In the The Simpsons season 25 episode "The War of Art," Lisa Simpson (Yeardley Smith) meets art forger Klaus Ziegler (Max von Sydow), who boasts about how his forgeries have fooled art galleries worldwide. He manages to convince Lisa that what's important is that, forgery or not, his art has brought pleasure to people all over the world. A cutaway then shows Richard Branson floating in a spaceship,

Marvel Blocked Stan Lee Cameo from The Simpsons Loki Parody

Marvel Blocked Stan Lee Cameo from The Simpsons Loki Parody
The Simpsons was barred from featuring an animated Stan Lee cameo in the new Loki parody special, citing a new policy from Marvel that the late creator's cameos are over now that he's passed away. Famously, Lee had shown up in nearly every Marvel movie over the past two decades, typically to provide a dose of comic relief in a brief cameo appearance. Lee died in 2018 at the age of 95, and his final cameos were seen in Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame the next year.

Looking back at Lee's history of cameos in Marvel projects, there were tentative plans at The Simpsons to include him in The Good, The Bar, and The Loki, a new animated special lampooning the MCU. Because Lee had previously done voiceover work for the show, the idea was to see if any of that could be used to fit him into the story somehow. As

Marvel Blocks Stan Lee Cameo in ‘The Simpsons’-‘Loki’ Crossover Short

Marvel Blocks Stan Lee Cameo in ‘The Simpsons’-‘Loki’ Crossover Short
The long-standing tradition of Stan Lee appearing in every Marvel Comics film, television show and video game has come to an end – “The Simpsons” showrunner, Al Jean, says Marvel prevented them from adding a cameo appearance of the comic book legend in their new animated short, “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki.”

In the short, Tom Hiddleston, as Loki, makes his debut appearance in “The Simpsons” universe for a cartoon that makes an array of allusions to other MCU prominent characters. But there is no sign of Lee.

Jean told ComicBook.com that he and his team considered inserting a tribute to Lee upon discovering unused audio files of the creative genius from a prior engagement with the show.

“It wasn’t a joke,” Jean said. “We just thought, ‘Oh, we have Stan Lee audio from when he was on our show. Could we cameo him in?’”

However, Marvel summarily

The Simpsons Movie 2 Talks Were Happening at Disney Prior to Lockdown

The Simpsons Movie 2 Talks Were Happening at Disney Prior to Lockdown
Disney was interested in making The Simpsons Movie 2. Then the pandemic happened. This, according to longtime showrunner Al Jean, who confirms that discussions were happening at the studio about making another big-screen adventure centered on Springfield's most famous family. Whether or not that discussions come back around depends entirely on how well movie theaters recover in the coming months.

Al Jean is currently promoting The Good, The Bart, and The Loki, a new Simpsons short released as a tie-in to Loki, which is currently airing on Disney+. During a recent interview, Jean addressed the possibility of a sequel to The Simpsons Movie. Here's what he had to say about it.

"We were really talking about it a lot before the pandemic. And now I think just as a caution, I want to see how movies and, specifically, animated movies come back, because I wouldn't want to do it just as a streaming experience.

How ‘The Simpsons’ Used ‘Loki’ to Invade the Marvel Cinematic Universe

How ‘The Simpsons’ Used ‘Loki’ to Invade the Marvel Cinematic Universe
When Disney Plus launched with all of “The Simpsons” episodes, the team behind the longest running primetime TV series in history were thrilled.

“It’s a perfect fit and, you know, 100 million subscribers,” says executive producer Al Jean with a chuckle.

But there was one catch: While Disney Plus has specific tiles on its home screen for Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, “There’s no tile that actually says ‘The Simpsons,'” he says.

So co-creator and executive producer James L. Brooks suggested “The Simpsons” should invade the rest of Disney Plus, through a series of crossover short films.

“It was just the desire that we had to reach out to the viewers [of] the other branches of Disney Plus, to see if they would be interested in us — you know, if they hadn’t seen us as much,” Jean says.

The first short, “The Force Awakens From Its Nap” — which

The Simpsons” has a long history of packing jokes into the margins and littering the backgrounds of individual frames with jokes. And with their latest crossover special — one that combines “The Simpsons” with “Loki” and Marvel — the writers had the opportunity to go hog wild with references to the MCU.

The new Disney+ short film “The Good, The Bart and the Loki” clocks in at just about four minutes, but “The Simpsons” showrunner Al Jean told TheWrap it contains at least 100 references or visual cues, including “Simpsons” characters dressed as Marvel heroes. Some references even arrive in multiple post-credits sequences (in pure Marvel fashion), and it’s all punctuated with a gag in which some Springfield residents hold up a sign that reads, “This is what happens when Disney buys Marvel and Fox.”

Jean praised longtime “Simpsons” director David Silverman for his ability to pack “as many little Easter eggs

The Simpsons Assemble in MCU Crossover Short Featuring Tom Hiddleston's Loki

The Simpsons Assemble in MCU Crossover Short Featuring Tom Hiddleston's Loki
Whenever something is a huge hit, The Simpsons parody is never far behind. With Loki breaking Disney+ records, it was only a matter of time before he became one of the family, and now a new short is doing just that. Releasing on the same day as the penultimate episode of Loki, The Simpsons short entitled The Good, The Bart and The Loki, will see Tom Hiddleston reprising his role again, this time in yellow-form as a Springfield-bound version of the God of Mischief.

While many would say that The Simpsons already have their own mischief maker in Bart, but in the Marvel themed short, the pair will come up against each other as well a number of familiar Simpsons characters in even more familiar Marvel guises. The artwork released for the short is a delightful homage to the Avengers: Endgame poster, with Hiddleston's Loki joined by Ned Flanders as Ant-Man,

‘The Simpsons’ Producer Al Jean on How the Show’s New ‘Star Wars’ Short Came to Be — And If Marvel Is Next

‘The Simpsons’ Producer Al Jean on How the Show’s New ‘Star Wars’ Short Came to Be — And If Marvel Is Next
You’re not the only one surprised by the sudden announcement of the new “The Simpsons” short “Maggie Simpson in ‘The Force Awakens From Its Nap.'” For executive producer Al Jean and the team behind the long-running animated series, they’re still marveling at how quickly they turned it around.

“The Force Awakens From Its Nap,” which premieres at Midnight Pt on Disney Plus, came out of an idea that executive producer James L. Brooks came up with in January. Because “The Simpsons” library is such a hit on the streamer, why not do a series of shorts where the show interacts with other Disney Plus franchises?

Jean’s idea was “Star Wars”-centric, sending baby Maggie to a Jedi pre-school. He wrote the script with Joel Cohen and Mike Price, while “Simpsons” director David Silverman helmed the short.

Lucasfilm and Disney Plus were on board. Keep in mind,

‘The Simpsons’ at 700 Episodes: Producer Al Jean on Whether They’ll Make It to 1,000
As “The Simpsons” marks another milestone this Sunday with its 700th episode, fans can be rest assured that there are many more to come beyond that. Fox recently renewed the animated institution for another two seasons, bringing the show to Season 34 (and a grand total of 757 episodes) in 2023. But what happens after that?

“We’re going to definitely do 757,” said executive producer Al Jean. “I wouldn’t say that’s the end but I don’t know how much further we can go.”

He laughs at the idea of making it to an even 1,000 episodes, noting that it would take another 12 years to pull off that feat. But it’s not out of the question, and Jean notes that with virtually every classic series being rebooted — including animated entries like “Beavis & Butt-Head” — he doesn’t think “The Simpsons” would stay dormant for long even if production stopped. “As soon as they cancel us,
