Sean Hughes was born on November 10, 1965 in London, England as John Hughes. He was an actor and writer, known for Sean's Show (1992), The Last Detective (2003) and The Commitments (1991). He died on October 16, 2017 in Highgate, London.

He was the youngest ever winner of the Perrier comedy award.
Hughes was originally cast in a small part in Terry Ryan's Film "Puckoon". However, when the actor cast as the lead did not turn up on the first day of principal photography or the second Hughes heroically agreed to take over the lead role, even though he did not think he was right because he did not want to see so many actors and crew either stood down without pay until they found a star or worse, the film be abandoned.
Brought up in Dublin from the age of 6, he made his first public appearance in the city as a stand-up comedian.
Wrote poetry and had two novels published.
