Originally from London, Niven Howie is now a member of the prestigious honorary society of motion picture editors, American Cinema Editors.

Before moving to the US in the early 2000s, Niven was established as one of London's premier editors for high-end commercials, music videos and film. He had cut more than 400 such projects including Sting's Grammy Award winning Ten Summoners' Tales, several MTV Videos of the Year and many award- winning commercials.

He had also worked on a string of projects with legendary Director Julien Temple that included the feature film Bullet starring Mickey Rourke, Tupac Shakur & Ted Levine and three long form, ground breaking, iconic feature documentaries: The Filth and The Fury, Glastonbury (nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival) and Joe Strummer: The Truth is Unwritten.

He also edited other British film & TV hits including The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy, Pandaemonium, The Hole, Tube Tales, The Raven and Model's Close Up, the latter being directed by the world-famous photographer, David Bailey.

It was Niven's 1998 edit of the award-winning film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels for director Guy Ritchie that earned him his first BAFTA nomination and brought him to the attention of Hollywood.

Since his arrival in the US, he has edited a large number of iconic films including Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil: 3,4&5, Death Race, Step Up: All In, among many others.

As well as his 1988 BAFTA nomination, he was also nominated for an EMMY Award in 2002 for his work on Paul McCartney's Back in the US and in 2019 he was nominated for a BAFTA Cymru nomination for his work on the pilot episodes of BBC/HBO series His Dark Materials.

In 2020 Niven edited two episodes of the hugely successful series Shadow and Bone for Netflix and he is shortly to embark on series 2.
