Since visiting the film festival in Tromsø, Norway in 1994, where he became romantically involved (since separated) he has lived and worked in Norway, Australia, the UK, and for a short time the USA. He speaks Norwegian, but prefers English.

I wish I was in a position to spend a whole year in Northern-Norway. To me, growing up in Australia, this is so exotic, so wild and extreme. And it's friendly here. Northern-Norway is an exciting mix, a cross between the images I've seen from rural America and Eastern-Europe. Both in arcitecture and the way people look.
